We had quite a few on here going off on one after the defeat at Blackburn, prior to the game others were saying we would win by 2 or 3 goals. There are some who look at the opposition and see them struggling and automatically expect us to win, they show scant respect to the struggling clubs in this league. We are down to the bare bones squad wise and came off the back of an energy sapping game at Everton with the right result, we looked knackered on Tuesday, last night saw Everton loose at home to Arsenal, and they had an extra days rest, I know Arsenal and Blackburn are different propositions but Blackburn are fighting for their lives. Also last night Liverpool looked home and hosed at QPR to throw it away in the last thirteen minutes, did they underestimate the opposition, cause I hope our team dosent next Saturday, these teams are in the Premier league because they deserve to be there and need to be given more respect, yes we shouldnt fear them but dont take them lightly. Hope for the right result on Saturday then back to the FA Cup, the games just come thick and fast and we need all our squad available for selection for this important finish to what could be our best season for years, fingers crossed..
My feet, like yours, are firmly on the ground mate. I don't expect Mon to suddenly make us league champions, or to win the Cup this year either but I do think we should be aiming for better than struggling mid to lower half next season. I have utmost faith he will deliver.
I'm too old to expect miracles however I do not expect to lose to WBA 4-0 or Blackburn 2-0 either. That is the Sunderland of old. I cannot except fatigue cos these are allegedly fit young lads who i am sure would rather play 2 games a week than go into training. Admittedly a match is a lot more intense but its the same for all teams. Could be with a few key men out our bench is a little weaker than some. I am sure this will be addressed during the summer and like most of us I am expecting/hoping for a better season next year with MON totally at the helm.
I am often amazed at some of the comments that are made when we are up against a team at the lower end of the table. Some people assume we just have to turn up to get the three points. When will some of the posters here learn that there is no such thing as an easy game in the Premier Division. Just ask Liverpool.
Finish 9 th and that is o k. Is Connor whickham fit? if so why is he not getting 90 mins?. Killgallon should replace Bardo (if injured) Meyler in for Mclean (sub second half) and give one or two others a rest for next tuesday.
Guess what, I disagree, I know that surprises everyone but there you go. I don't for one minute think there is such a thing as an easy game, more to the point, games against the bottom teams tend to be harder. All that said I see nothing wrong with trying to be ambitious, confident and expectant. I expect us to win on Saturday and I would hope that MON and the players share that expectation. I am however nervous because I know it will be a hard game and it would not surprise me one bit to see us lose.
Agreed. Admittedly we played badly against Blackburn, and a team facing relegation are dangerous and desperate, which can sometimes bring out the best in them. We had played 48hrs before that game, with an almost like for like team, even if you are a young fit lad (i play sports 5 times a week) you can, and do, still get tired, your recovery time is less being a lot younger, but it still doesn't recover in 48hrs. Lets just look forward to the QPR game, which will be tough, but i expect a response.
But we didn't play them with only 48hrs rest it was 75 hours rest , so in reality it was 3 games in 11days hardly a huge act and yes it can be hard playing teams at the bottom. But there is a reason why they are at the bottom. But overall it was the manner of the performance, no shots on target in 90 mins is almost unheard of.
