Redknapp: Assou-Ekotto has not produced Manager Harry Redknapp has admitted that Benoit Assou-Ekotto has flattered to deceive since arriving at QPR. The former Tottenham boss signed Assou-Ekotto on a season-long loan from the north London club in the summer along with Niko Kranjcar, who joined from Dynamo Kiev and previously also played under Redknapp at Spurs. Both players have failed to consistently produce their best form and Assou-Ekotto, who was sent off in the recent defeat at Leicester, has turned in a number of indifferent displays during the second half of the season. The Mali midfielder, 25, impressed after being signed by Redknappâs predecessor Mark Hughes in January 2012 but has struggled to settle since his move from French club Nancy was made permanent. He is currently on loan at Watford, where he was sent off in mid-February and has not started a game since. Canadian Petrasso, 18, is yet to make a senior appearance for Rangers but has impressed during loan spells at Coventry and Oldham. âWe were in a position a few weeks ago when it looked like Mikey was going to leave,â said Gallen. I thought I'd also mention that Petrasso looked very good last night. He was very fast, could turn really quickly and past several players with ease. He's got good control of the ball and good vision, too.
According to the Daily Star we're supposedly keen on making Ravel a permanent deal; Harry feels that if we're promoted he may be possible.
Isn't he supposed to have anger management "issues" or some such disposition? Thought I'd read that somewhere
He makes me 'angry' when he keeps diving. Other than that I like him though. The sort of wild card who may come in useful in the next few games.
By the time he left us, Adel Taarabt had more detractors than supporters if this forum was anything to judge by. And then we pick up Morrison who is a virtual clone of AT style and character wise but who dives more than Tom Daley. And for some reason everyone seems to like him. I don't get it.
I totally disagree. They are very different characters and players. Ravel does have a chip on his shoulder but Adel was like a 6 year old. Ravel puts effort in, looks for passes but can sometimes be a bit cheeky and keep it for himself so that he can find a shot. Adel would simply not pass in the most frustrating situations, on a very regular basis. Also, Ravel doesn't throw his toys out of the pram. He occasionally gets frustrated and has a go at a couple of players or drifts a little bit but this is nothing compared to what Adel was like. Adel would almost leave the pitch when things weren't going his way, almost literally. Also, Ravel doesn't have the kinds of delusions of grandeur that Adel has. So, you cannot say people are silly for wanting Ravel but not Adel. They are very different. And r.e. diving: Adel would dive or go down easy very often. But neither do it as much as Mbia!!!
Honestly, based on what I saw from last night, it wouldn't be a bad idea to give him a chance in the first team no matter what league we're in. But I'd bring him in as a late sub in less important games where we're winning to see if he can handle the pace and pressure.
Totally agree i was being sarcastic... as i said on another thread given our FA and League cup record in recent years, why oh why don't we give some of the youth a go in these games, I can't see how our record would of been any worse had we played some of our youth squad in these games. You never know we might find out that some of them can hack it at senior level, there is only one real way to find out.
Its simple. Despite his reputation, Morrison has yet to kick up at Rangers. But as soon as he does, people will be on him. And rightly so. (EDIT: Very good post from awjm above)
We've seen RM score a few good solo goals much like AT. We've seen RM totally drift out of the game when things get physical just like AT. The 'effort' is only applied when he is in the mood. Agreed they both dive a lot. They both hold the ball way too long (it's almost like shooting is the last possible option for RM when he has exhausted all other options of beating the defender for the umpteenth time or diving). The reason Fat Sam offloaded RM was precisely because of his poor attitude and the chip on his shoulder, exactly why HR got shot of AT from Spurs. I'm not saying that we shouldn't bother with these kind of mavericks (we have the Stan Bowles tradition to live up to after all) just that there is no point in stepping out of the frying pan and into the fire.
More selective memory here I'm afraid. Taarabt got us promoted with 20 goals and nearly as many assists, so I think he must have passed it a bit! Delusions of grandeur? He's currently playing for Milan!
No one has commented on the piece about BAE. Very strange by Harry. Reverse psychology? I hope he knows what he is doing.
It's because it doesn't fit in with the Harry is clueless attitude. Here Harry comes out and says exactly what we've been saying for weeks/months. How can he do that when he is clueless and only picks his Spurs favourites? Spot on piece of management. It's not like BAE could care any less. Me the happy 'er.
