yeah, some good memories there, the leeds stuffing was good coverage, and max thompson's volley against the arsenal was a cracker, if only we could pull off those results this coming season.
People often ask about comparisons between that side and our present one. No question the 1981 side wins hands down. We had the best/hardest centre half in the league in Ante; Jimmy at full back; Curt & Robbie midfield; Leighton James out wide and Bob Latch as striker. What price that lot in today's market? The rest of the squad were pretty tasty too. We had so many guys who were comfortable on the ball. Robbie had this amazing burst of speed, Curt was full of tricks and, say what you will about LJ today, but this guy could PLAY - had an incredible understanding with Jimmy. Fabulous, fabulous times to be a Swan and I loved every moment of it particularly as there were a number of Welsh lads in the squad. I just hope that our first season in the EPL will be as enjoyable if not as successful.
1982: Swansea City 2-0 Man Utd. Ah those were the days....if only we had the chance to play such top flight teams now....but wait a minute, we ARE going to play them again in a few weeks
Wasnt around back in those days but have the games on DVD. Great to see the Swans smash massive teams like that.
