CaulkinTheTimes One #Safc line - Muntari is loan with view to permanent deal. Bruce: "that's something we're trying to do." Dunno fee. Taken big pay cut.

I know he hasn't even kicked a ball for us yet but I hope we sign him from Inter in the summer :D

Cannot wait to see our two new African stars in action. Mensah and Gyan have certainly given Sunderland a good reputation with regards to other African players and maybe these aint the last (Taiwo anyone :p)

Also in France we are becoming more known having signed Cisse probably the biggest player we have ever had at the club, Cana, Zenden, Mensah, Gyan and now Sessegnon

Poolie - our profile has never been bigger in global terms and that's why I desperately want us to qualify for Europa Cup. i think we could really start to get noticed around the European circuit with some exposure in a European competition. At the moment we don't have a profile and its one of the bug bears for me.

I think the mags are right that they have a much higher European profile due to their involvement in competitions over the past 15 years or so.
    That will change next year.

Another great post, couldn't agree more!

Also loving the contract update Poolie, I see you've moved on from listing players we'd like, although you did manage to get Taiwo mentioned ;)

End of the day, 6million for Sess, and around 8 for muntari, leaves a £10million wedge in the kitty.

We know we bid for Sess BEFORE the Bent sale, so circa £5million was in the pot.

It's not unrealistic to think our wonderful owner would stump up maybe £10million if we were in Europe.

£25million, the draw of euro football, and several top class players already kicking around the place, we could end up getting a real top striker in the summer, imo.

Gyan and Mensah must have done a right job on him to get him to take a pay cut...

How does it feel to be an attractive enough proposition to attract Ballon D'or nominees and Champions league winners...

    I'll hazard a guess...

    Effing Class.

Mate, Ellis and Niall did that.

Gyan? Mensah? Sess? Muntari? The best goalkeeper in the league?

It's time for us to stop thinking it's gonna go tits up.

Niall, Bruce and Ellis are here to do a job, they WILL do it.

though he may have found himself slightly out of favour at inter recently, fact is we have signed a player who just won the champion's league, was one of the first signings of jose mourinho, best manager in the world (tm) at his new club, for a fee well clear of our club record, AND, we got him to take a pay cut to come here!! absolute class from bruce, quinn and short. pleased we didn't sign a striker too - we may regret it a bit (though we won't as long as gyan stays fit for five games or so), but we've shown once again that we will not be taken for mugs in the transfer market - we deal on our terms only. probably could have held out for a few billion with bent if we'd waited another two weeks though...

    <cheers>
Agree with probably able to get more for Judas if we had held out Maybe £40 mil (proven premier goal scorer versus Potential)
One of my mates who is a Celtic fan raised the point how much would Henrik Larsson have been worth in this day with these mental prices been paid.
