......yes in a bizarre round about way and only really for me. But, in the run up to the Huddersfield match last season there was an article in some paper, (presumably the HDM) about football violence and Hull City etc. I don't know the full contents of it, as at the time my Uncle only sent my Dad and I a scan of the photo accompanying the article. However the tagline on the photo read: "South Yorkshire Police keeping an eye on Hull City fans during a match against Barnsley at Oakwell". My Dad and I were gobsmacked as right in the centre of this photo were the two of us - allegedly we were football hooligans! Anyway at my Dad's recent funeral service we used this newspaper cutting and had a bit of a laugh - alleged football hooligan he was, (both of us). It was just one little thing that helped lighten things up and pay a great tribute to him. So I just thought I'd share it - the tiniest bit of amusement from the completely ridiculous scenario that caused such uproar last season.
You hooligan Dids I'm sure your Dad will be watching from afar with a wry smile. Hope the send off went well.
We had a Hull City AFC scarf displayed across the altar and I'll tell you the opening line from my tribute speech: "I was born in Leeds and this came with a certain inherent danger.......I could have become a Leeds United fan. My Dad was having none of that though so when I was a child he dragged me off to watch some decrepit lower league team called Hull City"
