Hello all. I've just got back from a week in sunny Cornwall with some mates of mine. Weather held out and the local food and drink was excellent, so a good week all round! However, I didn't have the internet, so I'm a bit behind in the football world. At one point on the beach I had a sneaky look at my phone, and saw the BBC Sport article about Gyan signing for Al-Whatever.. I'm sure this has been done to death a hundred times over, sorry to raise old points, but I was just wondering if anyone could talk me through: A) Why he went? He was playing week after week in the best league in the world. Surely their standard of league is essentially Conference? What sort of footballer does that?! B) Is there any way back? If not, surely his value in the European market will drop if we've loaned him out to a club where he won't score a goal of note at all? All we'll have on the 'selling points' will be 12-18 months old.. C) Most importantly. What the club is getting from it? Have we got a masssiiiiive fee up front or something? We've let our £13m record signing go for 12 months to play in front of crowds of about 300 in a bit-part league. Who the **** does that?! We must have got something in return? Properly shocked me, I mean after the summer it was clear he wasn't here for the long haul, but £20m to Spurs in Jan would make a lot more sense to me than a season playing football in the desert!
We cant force anyone to stay, He's gone for s**tloads of dollars. We can't - realistically, have him back. x
You came to Cornwall and didn't tell me??? Ohh the rejection. By the way we got 6M for Gyan for the year and he gets 200k a week. But he left for footballing reasons.

£6m loan fee softens the blow I suppose.. ..and £200k a week!?! He's not exactly Messi! Bloody hell. To play in that league though, another nail in the coffin of football, I can't think of another case like this EVER. Robbie Fowler and Roberto Carlos trawling the world playing for money, fair enough, but Asa is just coming up to his peak years. I hope that when we sell him next season, people are still going to be willing to pay big money for him. My worry would be that they'd say 'we'll offer you £10m because he's done nothing of any significance in 18 months'. Whereas if he had stayed, scored 15 in the PL, and moved on next summer, I'd imagine we'd be looking at £20-25m.. Bruce said anything about reinvesting in January? We JUST got Bendtner in so that we had a decent number of experienced strikers, and then boom, one of them is off again. Even quicker than DB took off after AG's arrival..
PS. Sorry Cyprus, didn't realise you were down there! We were in St Ives though, just down the road, my mate lives in St Erth so very close to Hayle and its a lovely part of the world
