Watching the Cardiff v Reading game last night and a few thoughts entered my old mind, when I had dealt with that I got back to football.

With Cardiff missing out, again, does that mean Boothroyd will be ours, did not impress last night but it was only one game.

Anyone fancy Shane Long, sadly I think many will so may not come our way.

I see we are agin linked strongly with Demba Ba in this mornings gossip.

Nothing earth shattering in all that but there you go.

Thought Boothroyd did quite well, thought at times his distribution was pretty good but he seemed to lack urgency and didn't make every effort to get into the box after helping with the link up play. I'd like to see more of him before making up my mind.

Shane Long is a quality player, I reckon he will end up at Everton or Villa, sadly not us.

I don't fancy Boothroyd, his lack of urgency in getting into the box reminds me of three years of frustration with one K Jones. Demba Ba is also a no no for me because of his potential fitness problems as well as my dislike of his attitude re signing autographs because he was tired etc. Seems to me that he is like too many foreign players from Africa who IMO are somewhat mercenary and don't give value for money.

Syd the way our club history has been, we are more than likely to buy some clapped out supposedly the new David Beckhamginola type from Norway. just hope Pop Robson is up to the task of chief scout.

Shane long is a good striker, but the question is, will he make it against top teams? I'd be happy to see him mere, but not for stupid money.
