Great news to see that we're getting somewhere with the academy/training ground situation at last. It sounds very impressive and I can't wait to see the plans. Another vital step in the right direction for our club!

Abut time too. Interesting that it was part of Rodgers' demands before he signed a new contract. The recent training pitch debacle was embarrassing.

I look at it from the perspective that SCFC doesn't do anything " Spur of the moment " & this is just another case of being practical . That being said , about time !

so i take it that someone like joe allen came through despite the lack of a proper set up.. it should be one of the first things the club put the PL money into, spending it all on one player like sigurdsson or potentially unearthing one or two future joe allens in the next 5-10 years? to have a PL club without state of the art facilities isnt good nowadays.

surely swansea should be trying to be a category 1 club in the EPPP, i think we are aiming to be category 2 for the time being <ok>

Something that should have been sorted a while ago, wonder how much they are planning to invest in this ? And is it going to be down Bueafort Road ? Watching that video with the kids just now made me think will we have a player or two from there ? This Academy is vital to bring our next generation on.

the academy must be at the top of the list to set up. We are botom of the league when it comes to making it happen, its not as if it was not on the adgenda 3 years ago and should have been up and running ages ago....

It's taken 3+ years to get this far (albeit with problems from the council holding things up) let's hope it doesn't take another 3 years to get it up and running. Any more news on the stadium expansion by the way?

How many of our managers have been saying this? I'll believe it when I see it! Martinez, and Sousa both banged on about our poor facilities, and the need for Academy status, so I'll just wait and see what happens, long overdue and you'll have to forgive me for not getting excited about this latest news!.................

Can't help thinking that our useless Council doesn't help. Just heard that the Ice House by the Sail Bridge is going under largely due to the Council jackhammers that were forever outside during the summer. The guy who owns it asked for a meeting with them as things are that desperate and what did he get? 'We'll meet you next year'. Yes, next ****ing year. Pathetic.

If the proposed facility is to house the first team and youth, does this mean that the site will be away from Landor's RTB?

That ice house story has been running a while as well, didnt the council basically cut off all access to his premises ??

I stateded while back that buck would only sign when everything he wanted was in place, i qouted him saying something quite cryptic (cant remember now and cant be arsed to pull up old threads) about the ambition of the club being able to match his, seems it was more about getting this built than transfer budgets.

Crazy that we are still dragging our heels on this(if it is us) without building for the future the present good work will eventually come undone, a good accadamy will sustain us in the coming years and leave a legacy if we dropped out of the prem.

Im sure the club will get this right, they have with pretty much everything else!! they are passionate Swans fans before anything else and this always gives us as fans great comfort in knowing everything that is being done is for the benifit of the the team, club and city of Swansea.

The futures bright...the futures Black and White :)

The Ice House story is digusting if true. The Council should be doing everything they can to keep any business open during this recession. I have a business in Pembrokeshire so this kind of thing really p**ses me off. That Mayor who enjoys corporate entertainment a bit to much can't help things.
