MH must be heaving a sigh of relief that he didn't get the nod there. There is only one objective - reduce the wage bill. Relegation fodder whoever takes over. Get a feeling Bent may be made available this summer. Possible back up for Cisse......
They will find it hard to get a top manager. MON obviously saw the writing on the wall. While still a big club, the playing staff is far from impressive.
They have a lot of under performing players on massive wages there. It will be a huge job to turn them around.
Solskjær nearly lost his job in Molde as well because he went and talked with Villa. Molde's mega rich owner said yesterday he was pulling out of the Club as he felt Soljær's trip was betraying his trust. Today it seems Solskær is staying in Molde, and the owner may not be pulling out!
For me it's a shift in power for the 'big clubs'. Years ago it was the 'big six' then 'big four'. Leeds were in the mix as were Villa and Liverpool. Now teams like ManCity/Chelsea have taken over with Spurs/Newcastle not far behind. Arsenal are not the club they used to be. Villa/Liverpool are miles away from City/Utd/Chels now.
Some of these big clubs are riddled with debt and there's only one direction they'll go. Clubs like ours with a bit of wealth being invested will upset the order for sure...
Sunderland take note. This is all O'Neill's legacy - he mugged the naive owners, spent a fortune, got stalled at sixth place and threw his toys out of the pram when they declined to be mugged a second time. Now the whole thing seems to be in meltdown.
Newcastle seem to have the right idea, outstanding scouting and shrewd signings that don't break the bank. Who'd have thought Ashley would've got it so right after getting it so wrong?...
Agree Ashley has sorted that club out. I wonder how many 'Geordies' will eat 'humblePie' and say thanks and well done Mike?
I mean no disrespect to these clubs when I say that I think Swansea and Norwich will probably sink a division in the next season or two. We, however, have a real chance to consolidate as at least a mid Prem table club. Now that the training ground is being sorted, all eyes must turn to a stadium fit for a Premiership club. While I love LR, and it gives the fans the platform to get right under the knickers of some of the emotionally fragile premadonna players who visit, its doesn't match the owners stated ambitions. It's going to be fascinating to see how the owners go about things, while maintaining top players on the pitch. Roll on the Lakshmi Mittal Stadium!
Free steel! We don't mention it much but I am convinced that our location in West London gives us a huge advantage over many others in attracting and retaining talent. Now we have got proper ownership and management and a 'vision' (creepy corporate speak, but for once relevant), watch the orderly queue start forming. This is brilliant.
i think the most important thing is they got rid of Barton. I dont believe its a coincidence they improved massively right after he left.
I think Norwich are on the brink of a meltdown if they lose their manager and then holt. I think a lot of teams have finally worked out Swansea and both will suffer from the sophomore slump and I think at least one of them will be battling relegation next season.
people on here just use barton as a scapegoat for anything, maybe it's to dow with them getting about 5 very good players in, they still did well last year for a team coming up, and their fans spoke very highly of barton's performances last season
I Brilliant, makes me feel that the future is grim there as well. O'Neill always favours a big target man like Heskey, so we can predict how they are going to play. Shame, coz I like the Mackems and I know I am in a very small minority who feel MON is hugely overrated.
Yet they were all delighted to get rid of him. Just as the vast majority of Rs fans will be. Its not about the performances on the pitch which have been mediocre, its about him being a twat, messing up the dressing room and being a total embarrassment on twitter.
I don't think they should. The amount of calamitous mistakes Ashley made and contempt hes shown to the fans over the years has been dreadful. He seems to have stumbled onto a formula that works although it should be noted that not all the Carroll money was reinvested back into the squad. The Goons finally got us up but only after treating us like sh*t for years. And it certainly didn't make up for it.
That's a different take on O'Neill. Wouldn't agree, top manager. Strange no top club took a chance on him.
