I have been thinking for a few months that our pitch seems far too small compared to a lot of other pitches... I was watching Brighton v Liverpool and their pitch is massive and wide. Do you not think a bigger pitch would be better for us as a team?? Furthermore, can we actually increase the size of our pitch? I read a few years ago that our pitch was actually too small to hold world cup matches...I think that story was in the Sunderland Echo a few years back. Do you think a bigger pitch would be better for us? More room for wider players, better passing game and less compact..

Stoke, Britannia Stadium, 110Ã70 yards, 7700 so its not all that small. nd never heard about the world cup thing, they can only be a minimum size, and a max size in the regulations, so as long as you meet that, you should be fine surely.
No wonder Stoke have the smallest pitch. Throw ins from the thinnest and shortest pitch must give them a big home advantage. Sorry Marcus, your comment came up the same time as mine.....Great minds etc. perhaps?
I recall Keane reducing the pitch area (at that time) to the minimum requirement, to help against the likes of man u ...
No problem Charley - either great minds or fools seldom differ mate!! I'm pretty sure that the rule is that the pitch size must be set at the start of the season and kept at that size for the entire season. May be wrong though
I'm not sure if Brightons pitch is bigger or if the camera angle they use makes it appear bigger. Bolton have changed the position of the cameras lower in recent seasons and their pitch looks much smaller than it did (just an optical illusion) , West Ham similar when they reconstructed Upton Park a few years ago
I think that the rumour that the sol pitch was not big enough for world cup matches must have been spread by the skunks....a world cup pitch has to be 105x 68 metres which is 115x75 yards the sol was built with a pitch dimension of 105x68metres but Keane reduced it ......All it would need would be a guy with a paint brush and hay presto we would qualify for world cup matches.please see.. http://www.fifa.com/mm/document/tou..._recommendations_and_requirements_en_8211.pdf
