It's a shame for Solly, but Nathaniel Clyne had the position cemented for months. He should be proud that he was recognised for the original (albeit 191 players) squad. Bigger things are yet to come for our Chris.
Keeps the attention away from him, which, purely for selfish reasons is only a good thing for us. Means low interest and more chance of him still being here next year. I'm sure he wasn't getting carried away with himself though, and probably expected not to make the squad. Hopefully he's as proud of himself as we are of him, both for his inclusion in the original shortlist, and for his performances this season.
