Fourth official has said Sol Bamba is set for a medical at Trabzonspor this week. Its no big surprise Nigel is selling Bamba as although he is a very good defender he is also a liability at times. I dont think we will sign anyone before some more players leave. Bamba was always going to be one of the easiest to shift because his wages will be decent but not massive like Mills or Beckford plus Bamba had a decent season and did very well at the ACON.

With Tunchev gone and Mills looking likely to leave that just leaves us with Wes Morgan and Sean St. Ledger. We have been linked with numerous defenders but not many who would are as good or better then Bamba.

I am a tad disappointed to see him go because on his day he's one of the best in the league but I guess you could argue he just wasn't consistent enough at this level. It will also be interesting to see whether there was any substance in the argument that he was impossible for others to play with now he's left.

As for replacements, I think De Laet can be one of the CB's in the squad as well as the RB. Nigel usually likes to have a player like this - he tried to do it with SSL and last time we had Michael Morrison. So I think three out and out CB's will be what we have.

Morgan is obviously one and then, if Chester doesn't come, St Ledger will probably stay and be first choice (I could see him leaving if he isn't) and then somebody like Fitz Hall who I feel would provide adequate cover without taking up too much in terms of wages and also being happy to be that substitute without throwing his toys out of the pram.

If there's one thing we know about Nigel Pearson, it's that he knows how to build a solid defence.

And the fee quoted is around £800K which isn't much really, granted 3 times what we paid but still I'd have thought £2~£3 million would be a fair price. I just hope that this fire sale we seem to be starting works out in the end.

I may be wrong here and it certainly isn't as clear in the report in today's LM, however, I understand the £800,000 refers to Sol's wages and not the transfer fee - The report in the LM does go on to say Leicester want a sizeable fee

It is a shame if true, which considering the coverage it's had it probably is. Maybe a few questions over his ability but always a committed professional when playing, will particularly remember the first 30 seconds of his debut fondly!

Always gave his all and he is a decent defender but he would make any defender playing bext to him poor

He is too flamboyant for Nigels liking

The only way i can see this happening is if we do a deal like we did for Matt Mills

Is Chester really that good and worth the effort, is he just a yes man that'll do as he's told or is he better than Mills?

If we can't get Chester than who is plan B? I only ask as I've still got concerns about our midfield that's all!

Yes, Chester is a fantastic defender. Very clever, makes perfectly timed challenges, composed on the ball and even looks good in the oppositions half. I don't see him going though as he's just bought a house here and his family have moved here with him, so he seems settled.
