Considering he had four days only,he seems to be pleased with the players.
Two massive home games now, lets get ready to rumble.

Sean O’Driscoll admitted he would have been “jumping through hoops” had his first game in charge ended in a goalless draw at Elland Road. The new head coach praised the players he has inherited on responding so quickly to his methods, but City were ultimately left with nothing to show from the visit to Leeds United, who ran out 1-0 winners courtesy of Ross McCormack’s 66th minute winner. The result leaves City seven points adrift of safety at the foot of the npower Championship table, but the new man at the helm still sees plenty of positivity ahead."If we'd have walked off the pitch 0-0 we'd have been jumping through hoops,” O’Driscoll told Bristol City Player.“We get judged on results but if someone had said they’d perform like that after four days, I’d have taken it.“The performance was good. It could have been better, but we were organised and didn’t let our heads drop when the goal went in.“We tried to give them things that they can do well – be organised, which they were; react when you lose the ball, which they did; when defending, let’s defend as a team and when attacking, let’s be as bright as we can.“From our point of view, that’s success at this point in time.”The game’s only goal arrived within seconds of O’Driscoll having to sacrifice Paul Anderson, who was unable to continue after picking up a knock. He added: “Paul Anderson was injured and had to come off. One or two haven’t played much football, so we had to look out for tired legs but the shape of the team was still ok.“I’ve told the players it’ll be more difficult at home but we’ve done all the things we needed to do today, so we’re just hoping for more of the same.”

Three fans quotes who were there today, sounds much more promising-

Agreed. I thought the whole defence looked much better today. Fonts in particular looked much more confident.*o all those that want Carey and Fontaine finished you will be disappointed to hear that this looked a decent central defensive partnership.*Looked very solid and nothing much went through the middle. Would nt be surprised if SOD built his defence around these two.*

we played a lot better today and our passing looked at lot sharper, this might mean that Kilkenny will play more often... we shouldn't really of lost as it was a soft goal to concede.

Whilst I was not there, I am still unconvinced that these 2 are the way ahead, Carey is too old for this level and Fonts is plainly and simply not good enough. And if he only ups his game when a new boss comes in, as he did under DM and you say he has done under SOD, then he is not only a poor player, but also a terrible professional, and for that reason we need to shift him on, we cannot keep players who only up their game when we sack a manager.

By their own admission Leeds haven't been playing very well lately, although they obviously did enough to beat us which aint saying a lot.

It would have been a better indicator if we'd played someone in top form like Watford or Leicester and I reckon the outcome would have been the same as last weekend

If Carey and Fontaine are the way ahead then we are already doomed to more failures and relegation. Several years and managers on, we're still pretty dreadful defensively and if you cant stop 'em going in, you're never gonna win games

It sounds a bit like "Dead Cat Bounce" when shares hit the bottom and then immediately rally a bit. But after a nother day or two they settle back at the bottom.
It will be easy for everyone to substitute "things Bristol City" in that sentence.

SOD had to go with the experienced players that he has available but I suspect, despite his statement about positives, will now realise that our central defenders and defensive midfielders are not up to it.

It's going to be a long three and half months until end of April. And we must start building now for at least one season in League One!

I said when McInnes was still here. Our best results this season have come with Carey and Fontaine at the back Palace, Cardiff, Middlesbrough. None of us can bullshit and say they excepted us to win at leeds and a draw would of been an amazing result. But just conceding the one goal was pretty good. Would rather see these 2 there than McManus and Fontaine. Carey is head and shoulders better than McManus and is our best defender but hes 36 this WILL and has to be his last season. I think he can still do the job for us until the end of the season, with bates coming in when he isn't fully fit. Still though that doesn't mean we shouldn't be brining to defenders in. Had this been a McInnes team and result we would all be furious and wanting him out

Really? Do you normally win when conceding soft goals then? I alway thought thats how we kept losing..

I'm figuring it out all wrong!

I'm not going to judge anything on that result....we could have been at the top of the league and still lost 1-0 to Leeds.......sounds like we were at least a little more organised..
IMO, at least we have a little hope with someone experienced in charge.....we fight on!

The way I look at it, We have 2 home games now which we can take 6 points from and I think because a few got knocked out of the cup we will still have a game in hand over the teams around us. We can get out of it if we win our next 2 games. Can't afford to lose 1 of them

I think SOD went with players in correct positions, something Del struggled with,Shiny spot on regards carey head and shoulders above the rest at the club even at 36.

Lets be honest even if we were top six,we never do well against Leeds,so to get anything would have been fantastic.

Unless SOD brings players in he will firstly get a settled side and stick with it.may change single positions but not complete teams as Delboy kept doing.
