It's not what the chairman wants to spend, it is the SCMP, financial rules that now dictate how much we can throw at a problem. And as we've thrown lots of money at the problem for the last four years WITHOUT SUCCESS, then let's all support our local team and it's current manager!
It don't bode well for the remaining games, watched the city for over 30 years now were as ****e as ever,
first game about 1963/4 and how strange we beat peterbro 3 - 1 didn't know who they were or where they came from...now I know where every club comes from
I don't buy any of this nonsense, the club, and the club alone chose to sell it's best players when they could have blocked the sales of Heaton, Davies and co I am as underwhelemed as ever by yesterdays result. Still we're only 12 points behind the leaders after just 5 league games.
'I hope I saw green shoots Tuesday night. Getting a point today will add to that belief' Angelic - Posted this yesterday morning - I feel we MIGHT be going the right way. Just got to keep Marv fit.
Not sure you are a City fan? Anyway to remind you - we lost £14m last year (that can't continue) and FFP regulations mean we can't overspend on player wages (partly due to those still here) The Board (finally some may say) have a plan - the manager has bought into it - good young players have been recruited - the long term future is looking good, but there maybe some short term pain. We have a JPT game to look forward to against the smaller club in Bristol, and a CC game away at a Premiership club.
I agree with some of the posters here and have optimism for rest of season. Yes we cannot splash SL's cash around to try and fix the problem the new rules don't allow it. We half app. half of a new team to bed in, no-one said it would be easy and who would want a handful of our "best" players who patently wouldn't want to be here and earning big salaries still turning out. A recipe for discontent and problems in the dressing room. We have a group of youngsters and home grown talent that the manager can work with and seem to want to fight for the team. Remember there are only 41 more games to go and 123 points to play for much to early to start getting negative.
If that's the way you 'support' your team then you can fk off, too. Close the door on your way out, will you?
Yoda? But yes you are true, if we stay patient we will have a great team won't happen this season but you watch us go in a years time.
We ARE playing passing football again We ARE creating lots of chances again (20 shots yesterday in contrast to last year when we had our first shot in anger around 70 mins in at least 2 games) We ARE dominating possession in games (60% yesterday) as opposed to hoofing it up the field for the ball to come straight back The current points tally is not as good as we would have hoped but the team is HUGELY different from last year in it style, age and approach and I don't expect ANY team in the world would gel after that few competitive games (although how Sam's free kick stayed out probably defies the laws of physics). We are not playing badly and will click soon and then the gloom will be a thing of the past. if you need an example of how these things work, just take a look at season 2006/07 where the situation was identical in terms of 3 points from 5 games and then we went to Northampton rock bottom (a game on SKY that I went to) and were 1-0 and down to 10 men at half time and as the saying goes, The rest, is history....
