After last nights game I sat here thinking about 'this time last year' where we were, and where it was obvious to many where we were going under SOD!

So googled him this morning, as again, the other half who thought he was brilliant all said "you wait and watch a Championship side snap him up"... Well that clearly never happened, so it didn't surprise me whatsoever to read he has been signed up by the FA for the England U19's.

I thought this was a rather good fit. When you consider how ancient and band-waggony the FA are. "We need to play like Spain and teach our kids to play that way..." (Not realising that by the time you learn to play like Spain, everyone has worked that out, its dated, and not longer works, as has been seen in Barcelona and the World Cup just gone). So it didn't surprise me they would pick SOD's sideways football philosophy to misguide our youth.

Every league club should count themselves lucky he isn't working with them, and that the only damage he can do is to an international setup that the Great British Bake Off is more popular than!

    Amen to that

England are an institution governed by old and backward thinking men who would rather reach a tournament than do anything once we've arrived

As for SOD, well he was just one of many mistakes made by the board/owner over the last decade, albeit one of the biggest !!!

We said the same about McInnes, and he seems to be doing fairly well for himself back up in Scotland. I reckon on his current reputation he could easily land himself a job in the Championship again.

I don't think SOD is a bad manager. That being said, he wasn't the right manager for us. During SOD's reign we were a club led by the top, and I think SOD was more than happy to buy into the five pillars bullshit and hope that his philosophy would result in wins. Obviously, it didn't.

He could do reasonably well for the England U19's team. It's a weird move for him, because I would hope to see some more progressive coaches at the start of their game taking over the U19's. This is what the FA lack, and unsurprisingly the last thing they want to do is bring people with new ideas into their system.
