"Sean OâDriscoll believes City can take inspiration from the way Derby County have become a stable npower Championship club on limited resources." Quote from City's web page today. Bristol is much bigger at 420,000 against 250,000. Their lowest attendance this season for a league game is just over 20,000. Even on Monday v Wednesday a full house will only be about 19,300! Yet Derby along with many other cities and towns have spent longer than us in the top league tier. Therin lies the difference and the reason why they have been more successful. City's woeful underperformance in League football for all of my lifetime, bouncing up and down between third and second tier of English league system means that we are nowhere near clubs like Derby, Leicester, Forest, Ipswich, Southampton, Bolton, Wigan and so on! Will we ever get anywhere near to fulfilling the massive potential that we have?
I'd settle for derby's position right now, Yes they blow hot and cold but they're pretty much safe every season, No doubt when the league loses some of the big teams Derby will push for promotion.
