At 1.30am this morning our home bred brood mare produced her second foal - a chestnut filly with white blaze. Mare and foal are happy. Foal has found the milk and has already had a "canter" round the stable. Looks like a big girl. Just come in to have a quick bite and cuppa. Will take some pics later. We have to think of a name beginning with "D". Favourite at the moment is Dahlia (after the great race mare, who I saw at Ascot and was by one of my all time favourites, Vaguely Noble). Index of the 3 foals
PS. Just having a cup of tea and sausage rolls and I believe one of the other mares might be starting labour. This will be her first foal and won't be so easy. Hope to have a happy update later.
Congrats Ron! I wouldn't be surprised if the other are went very soon too, we had 4 in one night once!
Nice one Ron... Just a thought on the name... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dahlia_(horse) If you drop down to the Dams side of Dahlia's breeding you will see that the Dam, Charming Alibi by is out of Adorada and Honeys Alibi... Just a thought... Drop the A, and join up with the Honey... Dorada Honey Just a little recognition to one of your favourite horses... Good luck and well done to all concerned with her...
What a lovely little thing. Hope the other one goes just as well Ron. The circle of life is always something to behold.
Nice one Ron, get a couple more pics up if you have a mo. Looks a big old mare, hope she knows the score and isn't too proud! I like Delilah.
