I am in England looking after my mother-in-law as she canât be left alone. She is elderly, immobile and has dementia and she had a nasty fall. BUT, I have just had a call from my wife to inform me that Amanda has had a serious accident in her Golf and it has been written off. Amanda is in hospital (broken ribs) and the driver of the other car is dead. My wife was very shaken when she spoke to me as she had just come off the phone from being informed herself. Apparently, the other driver came over onto the wrong side of the road, headlights full beam, and collided with Amanda head on. Police believe he was trying to kill himself. For info she was breathalysed and all clear. Apparently Amanda's car is in bits all over the road and she was trapped in what was left of it. Fortunately she was driving a right hand drive because there is absolutely nothing left of the rest of the car. Needless to say I need to make arrangements so that I can go back home. I'll post a message as soon as I know when that will be as I will be off the air for a while after that. Cheers Ron
Bloody hell Ron, shocking news. I'm always one to see the positives in things and it's good to hear Amanda is OK. All the best mate BTW, if the selfish bastard wanted to kill himself, couldn't he find a method that didn't endanger anyone else?
Jesus Ron, that's a shocker mate. I'm glad that Amanda got out it with rib injuries. Sorry to hear than another has lost their life. The whole thing is blood horrible. All the best mate.
****ing hell Ron. What a absolute selfish c*nt! Am so pleased it wasnt more serious for Amanda. She has had a tough couple of months! Poor thing! All the best buddy! Thoughts are with you, hope she is up and well soon!
Thank you. I'll be going home tomorrow. To think her 6 year old son was begging to go with her last night. I actually feel more shook up now than I did when I got the call this morning. It's all sinking in.
I bet it does ron! That is very lucky. I am quite religious not massively though!- but in times like that I think God must have been protecting your Grandson, he knew what was going to happen, he couldnt stop it but he stopped him from going and ending up injured or worse!
Wooly, he would have been dead - no question. The car was in pieces all over the road and the fire brigade was on the scene to get Amanda out of what was left of it. Horrific.
Jeez, this sounds bloody awful... I hope all else is well with the family Ron and lets hope they make a speedy recovery... Pass on the regards to all from the forum...
She had just started jumping again after her last accident and had entered the big grey in a couple of competitions next week (can't see that happening). Also she had only just just been given a new horse to prepare for sale in 2 weeks; that will have to go back unfortunately. My head keeps telling me how lucky we are to still have a daughter and grandson, be positive, move on. But my gut is having none of it at the moment. My head always wins in the end though. I'll be back home tomorrow evening and, with Amanda out of action, there will be plenty to do. I'll be on in the evenings.
Ron: Christ Amighty, that is terrible. Thank God your daughter survived, it is a miracle she did. I wish her a speedy recovery and return to full health.
I have personal experience of being in an accident that resulted in a write off car. I was told at the time that had I been in most other makes (I was in a renault clio) that I would probably not be here. The physical damaage does not take that long to get over, it's the mental trauma that takes a long time (and I do mean months). It does help if you can get behind the wheel of a car as soon as possible - even if it is only driving 100 yards in a paddock. Wishing Amanda a quick recovery
Ron, Sorry to hear about your daughter and my thoughts go out to your mother in law too. I hope your lass makes a full and steady recovery from the injuries and the accident. I also hope you are ok, seems like you are having a rough time at present. Glad to read so many wishing you and your family well. Good community on here.
