does anyone still watch Soccer AM? Not watched it in years now, it went downhill pretty quickly, has the situation changed at all? Any of the original lot still knocking around on it?
Helen Chamberlain still presents it, but now with John Fendley, who's from Scarborough. I only know this, because the missus put it on last week, as Paul Heaton was on and she's a bit of a fan. It's still rubbish.
Along with goals after music and half-and-halfs, Soccer AM must represent the very worst of modern football.
I used to like it in the early days - 15-20 years ago. It's been utter ****e for at least the past decade though - cannot believe it's still going.
If I'm around I watch the last bit of fun outside when they actually kick a ball, love owt like that, proper sucker for anything at fun fairs. There used to be a basketball hoop in the town square of Aya Napa, where all the bars are, €1 a go, I got barred, the missus thought it hilarious. Helen Chamberlain ... Hmmm ... maybe on a stormy night... once upon a time
It was meant to be a TV version of a lads mag ... as mentioned on a previous thread, they've just been dispatched to history, this garbage won't be far behind it.
But it isnt modern football. I read once Lovejoy saying it was a copy of FA Cup Final day in the 70's when the full morning on BBC1 was devoted to the Cup Final. It was ok, its just gone on too long. Its harmless. Chamberlains an excellent presenter but should have moved on years ago to better things.
I agree. It's harmless filler and "banter"and very much take it or leave it. watchable if you have nothing better to do. A bit tired, but doesn't deserve the hate.
It's the kind of program that's watched by people who like banter, vines and a...*sigh* cheeky Nandos.
I think it's agreed. If you're a fan of SS, you're a new breed of ****y football supporter who likes ****e spicy chicken, goal music, half half scarves & bants. I hope they die before the program does.
Last time I was home I was flicking through the channels & it was on, so thought oh I'll give it a go, last time I saw it, it was years ago at my mates & I thought it was ok for a footy programme, then I watched it for about 10 minutes hoping it would improve, now I can connect this to the Channel 5 football show! Both could be so much better! It's also similar to the fantasy football thing that used to be on with Frank Skinner, they stopped that just in time to recall it being funny!
