...we are out of the FA Cup at the first hurdle, we are in the relegation zone, McClaren has no say in transfers and it's become very clear that Alan Pardew was actually the one keeping this club 'above water'. If anyone ever wondered why Pardew left Newcastle for Palace, well, frankly, it's obvious. Crystal Palace may have a smaller football ground, but they have an ambitious Chairman and that's all there is to know. In any other line of business (and most other football clubs) if the level of ineptitude being shown by the NUFC board was happening elsewhere, they would (and should) lose their jobs. I think it's become clear that the only way we can rid ourselves of the 'Ashley Cancer' is to get relegated. Perhaps more than once. Newcastle United is a club with such huge potential that it's a crime to abuse it in the way that Ashley et al, do. The fans are 'mugged-off' BECAUSE of their loyalty to show-up to every home game, regardless of how dire the 'entertainment' is. The love of their club is like hanging out your family jewels for Ashley to abuse, every weekend. So... is also the name of a rather splendid 'LP' from the mid-1980's by Peter Gabriel. Thanks.
More than once is the key. As much as it would pain me, we need to be unviable as an advertising platform ASAP. Thankfully, Ashley seems fully complicit with this plan.
Remember leaving a match last season after yet another defeat to the St James' DJ playing Had to smile.
Indeed....................... you can change managers as regularly as you change your socks, you can buy and sell any number of second rate 'cheap imports' as you like, you can email the fans every day telling them about 'The Structure' and 'pound for pound value' and all of the other bullshit that engulfs OUR club, but................... until Ashley ****s it will NEVER change. If that means relegation then so be it. If that means potentially 'doing a Leeds' then ill take my chances. Ashley is a leech that is sucking the life and soul out of OUR football club. And the more money we pour into his pockets, the longer he will be here.
I don't much care for the division we're in, I'll still follow the club regardless. I just want to enjoy it - following the Toon under Ashley just veers from incredible apathy to absolute hatred. Add to that the fact only one man benefits from us staying up at the moment - Mike - and I openly welcome relegation, knowing full well the potential problems it brings.
I'll embrace the championship to be fair. Proper teams, no bullshit and cracking away days. I'll probably do at least the following away days a division down: Derby Hull Burnley Sheff Weds Wolves Leeds Forest Preston Blackburn Huddersfield Rotherham Bolton
