So, could some of you explain this theory that "we could have Rooney and Messi up front and we couldn't score in a brothel" with our midfield? Because according to my eyesight there is nothing wrong with the midfield and apparently we have one of the championships top scorers in there? I told you.. its the strikers and full backs that create chances and we have new ones and they are set up correctly and now we will create chances. Creative midfielders? its a myth, the strikers movement dictates how the midfield can move the ball. Maynard was lazy and selfish. glad he's gone..
Sammy baldock is what we've been missing, that extra bit of pace he has is deadly, and a great tactic by del to bring him in when Cardiff were tiring, also Greg Cunningham seems to be one of the buys of the season !!!
baldock changed the game imo, his movement off the ball and his hunger and attitude is exactly what we need, probably should of scored where he hit the post but he was in the right position which was good. And was he ever gonna miss his one on one? course not. But i think he has to play with a big man, thank god we got 3 of them
Got to agree with that Banksy, we have good attacking full backs, midfielders that get forward and score goals, and now we have plenty of quality up front, maybe one or two have red faces with there assessment of Pearson & Woolford, early days, but i only see good things ahead. I got a funny feeling that Del is much better than a sunday pub league manager don't you.
Just think if we had a Tinman in our midfield,he was creative, could pass a ball and christ could he score goal.
8 goals in 2 games speaks for itself. We obviously have a system which is working very well, which is not to say that Buzsaky wouldn't improve it, but if we dont get him it wont be the end of the world. We do still have Elliott, Anderson and Morris in reserve, and does anyone know what happened to Cisse in the end ? Not that we really need him. Monk would be a very decent addition.
"I got a funny feeling that Del is much better than a sunday pub league manager don't you" I do AD, I certainly do. Pearson and Skuse look very well balanced together and I have to say (Sorry Shiny!) that Elliot coming on looked like a fish out of water! and is the only small criticism I could make of Del, but I do understand why he did it. As soon as Taylor went off we lost the aerial threat up front, but still managed to score? I'm happy and confident.. long may it last.
We did Banksy, that is until Davies came on - he is pretty handy in the air and is a physical threat as well...
****ing gutted I missed this one, at a Wedding in Frome had the iPad constantly updating on OTIB match thread. Wife left wedding early because she wants to see football league show. Sounds like you all had a fantastic time, great that Baldock scored on debut. Everyone thought Woolford would be a bit part sub this year, and when he set 10 goals as his target, perhaps he is only playing till the end of Oct this year As Banksy said a couple of weeks ago regarding the forwards movement would prove this creative midfielder a miff I agreed with him then and still do. Love your signature Shiny saw it on "feed the wolf and he will score" did anyone chant it today?
Don't think so, I heard a few people say it, wait to you see woolys first goal celebration, for some reason he went surfing
"Everyone thought Woolford would be a bit part sub this year, and when he set 10 goals as his target, perhaps he is only playing till the end of Oct this year" Actually Redordead, I predicted a great season for Woolford after our tour of Scotland. Ever since we got him I felt he had more to him than we were seeing, but even I didn't realise how much.
Ever since we had him I knew we had a good player, he was good at Scunthorpe just lost his way when he got here. Got told a few times when ever I picked him in my teamsj that he should not be playing. Always thought he was better away as he never had the fans on his back so much. But his confidence has been rejuvenated, and long may it continue. Watched the football league, impressed by the coverage they gave us compared to the teams that played Friday night, seeing as most football fans had not seen the highlights either Friday night or on Sat morning, when it was all over Sky, and the Internet. And that long discussion they gave on us, "8 goals in two games how wrong were we last week" Yes you were but what the **** have we done to the BBC to just keep showing us like this, total ****ers.
Played some extremely crap and unentertaining football bearly scoring more than a goal a game for the last 2/3 seasons - you could understand the wariness about new found improvement, FOR NOW We will know that they are taking a bit more interest in us when they send Clem back to do another feature - this will mean that we are doing well for a sustained period...
"Got told a few times when ever I picked him in my teams that he should not be playing" I have to hold my head in shame and say I was one of the supporters whose patience ran out with Wooly, he came with a good reputation and showed absolutely nothing last season. However, losing my patience didn't run to personal abuse on twitter and booing him whilst wearing our shirt... The more fans I meet, the more I wonder..
I think every fan wanted him out, but now he's becoming a fan favourite, mind you one bad game and his head could be called for again
I can just remember someone saying to me when we bought him, he is a very intelligent player. Del obviously saw something in training, he is now as lots of people mentioning playing with a brilliant left back in Cunningham, reaping the benefit. Just hope when he has a bad game, and he will, that people remember this last week before writing abuse on twitter to him.
Banksy, 'Creative midfielders? its a myth' - It isn't. It's fantastic right now watching the balance we have and creating the chances the likes of Baldock will put away. City's start will not have gone unnoticed by other clubs and will adopt tactics they hope to stop City. That's when I believe you need that 'other club in the bag' - another option if you like - a creative midfielder.
