Despite being scratched from the betting earlier this week, So You Thinks connections have said he will be running in the Breeders Cup Classic. It's a strange one for me, I felt the Turf would have been more suitable, as its on grass and he ran pretty well in The Arc from a wide draw. It will be interesting to see how he goes in the Classic, can he adapt to the dirt? I feel, if he could, he would have a chance of victory. I believe this is an easier race than the Arc or Champion stakes. The American horse's are very poor this season. The fact they are wanting to run SYT doesnt say alot for Await The Dawn, clearly the vibes are that he isn't going to be up to it. It would be some end to the Aussie Champs racing career if he could pull it off. I actually hope he can
In some ways i think by running in the Classic they have more to gain and less to lose. If he wins then everybody can appreciate that it will be a terrific performance and gain him far more credit than winning the Turf but if he loses they have ready made excuses, i.e. that he didn't like the dirt or whatever, and therefore loses less than if he were beaten in the Turf.
The entry has probably been sponsored by a conglomorate of major british bookies - this horse has been a godsend for them this season, beaten when very well supported in the Prince Of Wales, Arc and Champion Stakes. I won't be putting another cent on it, so you can guarantee it will win in the Breeders Cup
Breeders Cup looks a terrific opportunity and to be honest all season I thought he looked tailor-made for the Classic. The American team does not look so strong this season. He has been consistent, ran very well against the best in Europe, and surely has a fantastic chance of going close.
O'Brien really struggles to win the Classic and this race has got to be an afterthought. He'll be coming up against horses that have been trained to the minute for that race. Can't see him winning that.
The stats dont lie.One European winner(On dirt) in 27 years.Even though Its a poor year for the yank crop but they still have the massive advantage over Euro horses on dirt.Better Euro horses than SYT have tried and failed.Consequently SYT will do very well just to finish in the first 4 and that's highly doubtful that will even happen. IMO SYT isnt even worth a speculative bet and should be aimed at the turf.
Fair point DBF I still feel that Giants Causeway and Sakhee were very unlucky, both horse's got trapped wide in particular Giants Causeway who raced 4 wide round all the bends from a wide draw, were as Tiznow was always racing close to the rail, and when you consider the margin of victory I believe Tiznow was very fortunate that on both Classic victories his biggest Challengers had bad draws, whilst he was drawn low. I often wonder if the draws are rigged in America, as the European radars always seem to get bad draws, and as every course is like Chester in America its a big disadvantage
His last two losses were to two new course records,so maybe the owners think he has a chance, even if he loses there will be no loss to his stud fee, but if he wins..... And Shergar the draws are not rigged, we can watch the draws live over here, and they are not fixed. But thats your perception of racing other than what takes place in the UK. And every course in the US is like Chester.HAHAHAHAHA.
Islanderpei.....Chester is a tight left handed track, and a low draw is a big advantage. Could you not say the same about all the American tracks? Or maybe just ask Chester course specialist Debussy's connections if he likes the American tracks. Just because your American there is no need to take offence, as im only saying how it is
He's not taking offence because he's from North America, he's taking offence because you comments are (as usual) nonsense.
King Shergar, get your facts right. I am not an American, i am an Englishman, probably more English than you are, living in Canada, my mates over here call me " limey". Also never new Chester was a dirt track or all weather track , Every course is different in their own way, going around in a so called circle in the same direction does not make them the same.
Islanderpei.....How was I supposed to know you were an immigrant? I did not say that all the courses in America are identical to Chester, what I stated was that they were like Chester, please name me a top American track, that cannot be described as a tight left handed track, with a low draw bias?
Santa Anita, Woodbine, shall i go on. Woodbine has the longest finishing stretch in North America I prefer Canadian Citizen or dual passport holder, but each to their own.
Morning CYC how you doing,I'm looking forward for the big race day down under will watch the replays over the weekend
I wanted to watch them too mate, but the good lady has booked us in for an afternoon at a place called Bribie Island, which is a stones throw from the mainland. There we'll have the company of some elderly relatives. I'm 60, my wife is not too far behind, and we'll be the youngest people there. I'm just hoping that some kind soul in a community bus, doesn't herd us into the vehicle and whisk us all off to a nearby retirement home. If they do, I'll at least get the chance to watch the racing on tv. PS, I'm fine thanks. Hope things are going well for the "Limey" and family.
All is good here , nice fall weather good temps, only one slight frost so far, taking a few days off, to do some fall clean up around the yard, my favourite time of year,Going to take the wife for a road trip around Cape Breton , Nova Scotia to look at the fall foilage and stay at a cabin near the national park next weekend. Enjoy your family get together.
As has been said, the key thing for me is the dirt surface. If he takes to it then I think he will run well and could win, however many a horse has failed to go on the dirt and many a European horse has failed to win the Classic.
