The cut price offer of 1 million has been offered by Mick McCarthy which I'm sure most of us will consider an insult. However if you look at the overall situation and with him being a free agent in the summer who would pay over the odds?

Several clubs have been supposedly linked by the media as having interest in his signature but will they follow through, and will Nicky accept?

I am now having second thoughts as to whether this sticky situation will resolve itself to BCFC's benefit and it's a strong possibility that NM will move on for nothing. This would be a sad end to his tenure at AG and would leave a somewhat bitter taste in most mouths caused solely by previous lack of management.

Tis indeed sad Mike, but there's no-one to blame but the senior management at the club for being stupid and doing nothing about it. This situation could and should have been avoided.

None of us can blame Maynard, even though he's hardly endearing himself to supporters at present, but given the chance we'd all hold out for the best deal for our own future.

I don't even blame Wolves for having the nerve to only offer us £1m. The bidding has to start somewhere and no-one is going to pay over the odds at this stage in the game. It also makes you wonder whether Wolves (or someone similar) is going to be the best standard NM gets offered as no-one in the top half of the Prem will want him surely ?

And Derek is prepared to accept £2.5m. Doesn't seem a lot. Not as much as I was hoping for.

We will be very lucky to get that, he can walk away in 6 months and sign for someone now on a pre season contract with a big signing on fee coming his way.

Fans booing him will only make him more inclined to do just that!

Take the £2.5m if it is offered and hope he will sign for them.

I think 3 would be fair. They need a striker and are desperate to stay up. He was worth 6 million (according to Lesta) at the start of the season and will be worth 0 at the end of the season, so 3 million halfway through the season sounds about right to me!

Difference is that he is allowed to talk to other clubs now he is within 6 months of his contract ending.
    Thanks very much Mr Bosman....
So he can agree a deal within another club now which starts next summer and includes a nice fat fee for himself
and his agent. Therefore I can't see him being worth 50% of what he was last summer sadly.
The Board have screwed this one up big time.
If we get our money back (2.25m) that will be a major result I suspect....

Ah but he probably wants to be in the premier league now, so would prefer a move in january. Also if he was talking to teams like wolves, wigan, QPR etc they could easily be back in the championship next season so would he risk signing for a team like that when he could be back in the same league next year? I know if he went to one of those teams in january they might still be relegated, but at least he would have played in the prem for half a season...

Think Maynard will keep all options open.

a/ Why risk signing for a club Wolves/Wigan/QPR etc as they may be playing Championship next season.
b/ Go on a free in the summer and accept a massive signing on fee.

Logical to expect him to wait till the summer.

ps. Listening yesterday to Sky pundits talking about the transfer window - They were saying any club shouldn't let their 'star' player get within 2 years of a contract end. Our Board have left it until the last few months. Shambolic.
And that's not hindsight it's poor management.

Absolutely spot-on RP. I have been saying this all season. I hope we are both wrong though.

You reap what you sow, we offered a more than fair price for NM and most of you just told us to sod off!
You lot said he will sign a new contract. Wrong and now you will get at most a million for him, mind you the
way he is playing now am glad we did not get him

good luck think you will need it, not nice to get egg on your face!

Funny how over the weekend, NM was rated in the papers at £4m and make no mistake, there will be a team either keen enough on getting the services of a top qulity goalscorer (in a good quality side) or struggling enough to pay that much for him.

Its only a question of whether he wants to go....

Sorry to disappoint but the BC fans on not606 do not control whether a bid is accepted or not! Our board accepted it and Nicky didn't want to go to you lot. Can't think why...

PS I've said for ages he will probably see out his contract and leave for nowt...

If Maynard is worth a million to us to stay and keep us up, how much is he worth to QPR/Bolton/Blackburn/Wolves to give them a chance of staying in the Premier League. Soemone will gamble at least £2.5m as the rewards for staying in the Prem are so much greater.

I reckon we will get offered £3-3.5m towards the end of the window by someone. As before, it will entirely be a case of whether Nicky fancies it...

Sam Vokes is on loan until 15th January at Burnley. As DM wants a target man maybe he might look at cash plus Vokes as with another striker Vokes options as first team football will be even more limited at Wolves and a 22 year old 6 foot 2 Welsh international wouldn't be a bad trade for us?

Was on loan with us previous but because of injury we didn't see much of him but I would still highly rate him as think players like Albert would play well off of him.
