So will we have a permanent manager or will it be Carver until the end of the season?

I'm starting to think we actually won't.

    No from me.
    But, I don't think that's necessary a bad thing.
Better to wait if it means getting the right man, rather than appointing someone because he' the best of the dross available.

Carver added: "The club has a process and you can appreciate this is a massive football club, so they have to do their due diligence on everybody.

"There's a process and I am involved in that. When the time is right, they will announce the new head coach."

This speaks volumes to me. I think we are stuck with Carver until the end of the season.

I think we'll do two things. One, not appoint anyone this month. Two, won't appoint the "right" man in the Summer. It's all about targets at NUFC, Carver will be negotiating what his minimum is to get the job full time, like 12th or something. We'll probably squeak to wherever we need to and Carver will be given the role full time. No doubt in my mind he's getting it this month. What's absolutely mind-blowingly sh1t, if this is true, is that they could have said that within a day or two of Pardew leaving.

    You're spot on, that's what should've happened.
It would have put an end to the speculation and nonsense that's just repeating itself continuously.
If we get the right man, I don't care if we have to wait until the summer.
But this is Newcastle United, so that wont happen, unless of course your many thoughts on Ashley selling up are indeed correct.

No what you mean, tend to think we will get better candidates in the summer, but going down this route could be a gamble.

No, but we will be in a relegation dogfight this season.

And we are going to lose against Crystal Palace

Personally I think it would be good to get someone in now rather than the end of the season. Gives them a few months to suss out the squad. How they want to play etc and then be ready to with targets lined up for the summer.

What everyone is missing here is this! We are not safe yet. I have doubts on Carver being able to get 15-20 points from the remaining games. Again we have Ashley the Gambler throwing the dice and hoping for a bit of good fortune. We all know how quickly things can turn to ****e after a few bad results. A massive gamble, but as we know from Ashleys` previous history, he loves a gamble and does not care if he loses... He just enjoys the rush.... Like all billionaires,, he does not give a **** about the workforce or the supporters!!!

No and I reluctantly agree with Heed, it might not be a bad thing if it meant we got better options in the summer. However i probably fall on the side of us hedging with Carver, if he does well, gets the job, nice and cheap. If he doesn't we get some jobless no mark in. I lost faith a while ago <laugh>

This rumour that Garde is interested, but would prefer to start in the summer............... well you either want the ****ing job mate, or you don't!! Not the man for the job in my opinion.

Think result today will be an important factor in Ashleys thinking. If we win it will be Carver at least until summer. A loss and he might panic and think we are back in relegation fight (which we could well be).

Agree. Can see Carver until end if season - unless we get humped today. Which is quite likely given our form against Saints.

Watched them at united last week. They were so solid at the back and in midfield but didnt seem to have much in attack. However having scored 12 against us and the mackems at home suspect they will fancy their chances of maximum points from nottheast and play a much more attacking game this week.

15 points would see us at 42 for the season, we would be incredibly unlucky to go down with that figure. IIreckon ten will see us safe going on the last few seasons, which we should get at a canter even with mostly **** performances. It won't be enjoyable though!

i thnk we'll have someone in by the hull game and id expect it to be either Carver or Garde, however there is talk of an unknown candidate who isnt on the medias radar.

all this talk of newcastle holding out so we dont sign anyone i rubbish, we are going down the head coach route so whoever comes in isnt going to have any say in signings anyway, i still think we'll sign a player or two as we need to.

Carver in post match interviews is giving the impression that some sort of result yesterday would have almost given him the job. No Carver, you have done nothing to deserve it even on an end of season basis. Find a cave to crawl off into, hopefully with an escaped circus Grizzly Bear hibernating in, run in screaming armed with nothing more than a conker on a string and go out like your own ****ing champion you ****ing chancing ****
