As the title suggests will Rafa sign a new contract or won't he? Will it be his fault, MA's fault or somewhere in the middle? Will we find out in April, May or June onwards? Are you ****ing bored to death of this ongoing saga?
The same way he does the fans I'm selling I'm staying I'm selling I'm staying I'm selling I'm staying and so it goes on
I think the crowd have a part to play in the next 2 home games. If we want him to sign a new deal we need to sing our hearts out... akin to the spurs game in 15/16. It was like a library in SJP yesterday, I have to be honest it has been getting gradually worse n worse every year. Our home fans are **** compared to our away following.
Absolutely no chance of him staying. The fat man and his little toad will **** this one up and Rafa will walk. I mean...i wouldn’t want to manage us. We are a ****house and our owners are even bigger ****houses.
Racing certainty to stay it has to be said. Far more likely. Yes Ashley is a **** and Rafa is obviously playing hard ball. However it is not about the owner as much as it is about Rafa being at the right type of club for him, and more importantly what opportunity there is elsewhere. The right type of club for Rafa is in England now. If this was 10 years ago I'd have said it is far more likely he'll leave. Now he is in the final 10 year stretch and his family has made home in the North West, I don't think he wants to go abroad again. Then you have to look at the profile of the club. Traditionally Rafa settles well in clubs with a strong working class element to the support who live and breath the club. Newcastle is a workers club first and foremost. Rafa has a connection here. Then you look around and opportunities at club above Newcastle who can either win or progress to win is very very limited. Perhaps if it turns ugly Rafa will rather do nothing than put up with Ashley. However you can be a long time out of a job in football.
Sums it up rather well. I doubt Rafa/Ashley are that far apart anyway. Certainly the salary on offer is fine, it's just a question of competence and investment. I think with surviving relegation there'll be more in the pot, but Rafa will know there's limits to what can be done. I think he's far more likely to work under some limitation than either uproot himself, or take a chance elsewhere. The top 6 won't take him on now, then there's Everton (err, nope), Wolves (not the right profile) and Leicester. We should be fighting for that 10th position, with an occasional foray towards 8th with a steady hand, a better draw of fixtures and a smattering of investment.
