So, our next game see's us playing away to Anzhi in Russia. It is a long, tiring trip to Russia and could be a bit hard on some of the players ahead of our game with Chelsea. It will be interesting to see who makes the trip to Russia.

It must be very tempting to rest all the main senior players for this game considering our squad situation. But even though Anzhi were not so impressive at Anfield, it could be a different story on there turf.

A win would see us close to going through. But a draw could do fine as well.

But I am thinking these things:

    - The League is priority
    - Lets not be to risky
    - Dont risk our only fit senior striker
    - It could be great experience for the younger players both on and off the pitch
    - Rest Sterling for this though, and probably Wisdom
    - Due to numbers, at least one first 11 midfielder from the weekend must travel (I say Sahin as he is yet to hit consistant form and has done European games more than Allen).
    - Full backs are tough spots

I'd like to see Pacheco, but as I played for the u21 on Monday I cannot see him playing.

    Here is my team:

    --------------------------Jones------------------------
    --Flanagan---Carragher------Coates----Enrique---
    -----------------------Henderson---------------------
    ----------------Selvey----------Sahin----------------
    --------------------------Cole-------------------------
    -------Downing------------------------Assaidi--------

Subs: Galucci, Skrtel, Suso, Allen, Pacheco, Morgan, Yesil.

Am I over estimating the weight of this trip though?

    Thoughts?

Edited. Enrique added in. He is improving and beginning to fit the system. The more games, the better he settles.

According to todays media reports, none of Suarez, Gerrard or Joe Allen are travelling to Russia. Adam Morgan and Samed Yesil didn't play for the 21s and have been included in the senior squad to play against Anzhi.

    1. i'd not take joe cole unless it was to leave him over there.

    2. i hope rhc source is behind that comment and not a hope from RHC... i'll take you at your word sir!

    3. I think we had a good look at them and they are goign to be a different proposition at home but we should be able to work hard for a draw... which should then see us through.

    4. we've plent of players to take but i reckon the team should be:

    jones
    flanno carra coates robinson
    henderson shelvey sahin
    downing yesil assaidi

the key to the game for us will be the two wide men running all day and holding it up, winning throws, corners etc... as this is the case downing will be replaced by someone half decent in the seocnd half.

I'd play Pacheco over Cole. Although, I always prefer Pacheco playing with Suso and Sterling as he seems to have a great understanding with those two.

That change aside, I'd be happy with JK's line up. <ok>

Maybe that can be a use for Joe Cole.

BTW, can I remind you how awful Eto'o played at Anfield.
