If Brown is suspended for 3 games (this wont get rescinded as the one the other week imo) and JOS is carrying a shoulder injury (pictures of him with a sling on tonight) which means he must be a major doubt for Thursday. Roberge will definately get one slot but who plays alongside him for the Everton and Cardiff games? Cuellar is injured and Diakite has done a total disappearing act recently and cant be considered surely? Does Dossena play as an emergency centre half or does Bardsley? Cant help feeling that things are slipping fast now for us this season and not beating a **** Norwich team today, with arguably our best 11, doesnt bode well for playing Everton (a) with a makeshift side and Cardiff (a) similarly too. Brown was stupid imo for that challenge which wasn't needed and it showed a bit of frustration on his part about our inability to score and win games against such poor opposition. However, the simple fact is that we are just as poor and we now enter the Christmas run without our 2 turn to central defenders. Bugger it comes to mind.
I think having a ball playing defender like Roberge lessens the need to keep Ki so deep. I'd like Ki in a more attacking role, at least until we can get an advanced playmaker we so desperately need. Who to partner him? Celustka for me like, he can play anywhere across the back and he has the height and physical presence. Laing may need to be used as well, hope he make use of the chance if given. Bardo can play there too but not Dossena, he's only 5'9".
A **** norwich team, did you see their summer signings quality guys, unlike your quantity approach over riding quality
Personally thought diakite was immense when he got games earlier in the season, and I'd be playing him ahead of JOS now tbh. Wasn't there rumours of the language barrier being an issue for him? I guess playing alongside Roberge should negate that?
It does not but its referring to someone claiming norwich were **** QUOTE=Bri And His Funky Phallus;5800529] What's that got to do with who to play center back?
I would have thought Roberge and Diakite are the obvious answer. If you start playing others in there instead it does tend to suggest one of those two isn't of the standard expected. Both looked 'solid enough' from what I saw of them. Though if I had to guess I think Poyet will put Bardsley in the middle with Roberge and Dossena and Celustka as the wing backs. Chances against getting anything from Everton (they are a class side this year), the big one is Cardiff away. Defence will be massive there and a draw is a good result, a loss will probably see you getting to the half way stage of the season with 10 points and 7+ points adrift. A comeback is achievable from there but a tough ask. January is a massive task of winning your winnable games - draws then will kill you but you're capable of clawing yourself out of this.
Before Wes came back Id of said that Diakite and Roberge were our strongest pairing, big strong guy with a bit of pace next to a good passer and reader of the game. Not sure what is happening with Diakite though, could be; Bardsley-----Celustka------Roberge-----Dossena against Everton id sit Catts just in front for protection.
Diakite has been on the bench recently hasn't he? I like him and Roberge and to be honest for Everton away even 2 Browns couldn't prevent a defeat.
Well address them so folk know what you're on about. Your comment appears completely unrelated and wumish
Currently I am bereft of ideas about how we can score and get some points. Poyet looked very downcast yesterday, as if the game is up, Brown and O'Shea are out for a few games, Dozy has shown he is not the answer to our scoring problems, we even more so need a new striker/finisher and an attacking midfielder..but will that be enough to give us a lifeline to 4th bottom. ATM it is looking as if we have thrown the towel in. Personally I am very depressed
That's what we need I think, the forwards aren't getting the service to miss the target, we work the ball to the edge of the box and have no ideas.
