    Happy New Year to all..<ok>

As the title says, who do we go for to bang in the goals playing the Gus system?

I'm an oldish fart now and have my eyes elsewhere than watching football, especially in Europe. So who's your realistic choice?

For me, Jordan Rhodes at Blackburn, my choice mind but one that would do the business..<ok>

Campbell on loan, buy Bruma and hope there's a decent striker available for loan. Don't fancy paying January prices for a next level striker. Something like that is much better sorted in the summer imo, unless of course the right player for the right price becomes available but how often does that happen in the Winter window?

Jordan Rhodes is supposedly wanted by Moyes at Sociedad. Would be a great move for the lad and I doubt we could compete...

That's not to say we shouldn't be trying.

I would settle for those two Funky....with the depatrure of Jozy and Graham and either Rhodes or Defoe would do me too until the Summer.

We need a quality striker, would cost too much in Jan.

Imo we have enough to stay up as we are and I would just get a stop-gap in on loan, and really splash the cash on a quality player, not spend £14m on a Fletcher type player.

I still think for a team that is lacking in pace... Scott Sinclair is a steal at (a reported) £2.5 mil.
Im sure Gus can rejuvenate the lad to be the player he was a couple of years ago.
At that price it's hardly a huge gamble?!?

First, I don't believe Jozy is going to MLS. His ambitions are to stay in Europe. Second, I hope he goes, for both our sakes. Lille would be a great choice.

Like most people, I dislike the January window - it's iffy and expensive. Looking at our position for the next six months, I'd go for someone who has the instinct to be in the right place at the right time to grab something from the limited chances he'll get here. And whilst he hasn't been getting regular team shots and has suffered a bit with injury lately, I can't think of a better option (at January prices) than borrowing Darren Bent. Love him or hate him, he has that instinct. He is always in the right position to nick it when it comes into the penalty area.

The problem with that loan is, would Bent want to play for fans who gave him such vicious mouth? I can't see it, but I'd ask. For a six month option, I can't think of anyone better. He's not the player he was, but the brain doesn't die. And Bent has that.

It was blatantly obvious at the end of the summer window that we were going to struggle for goals with that strikeforce. That was the time to sign someone. We went after Borini though for the whole summer and where we are now is a consequence of that!
If i had my way though we would sell fletcher and graham and litterally give Altidore away and try and get another striker in and play Wickham through the middle.

Went to Derby on loan last week. Wouldn't have been worth taking on loan prior to that.

Sorry fella but I think that's a dreadful idea, there's a reason only championship teams will take a look at him. He's lost half his effectiveness which was pace so we'd be relying on him popping up at the right place, problem with that is 1 strikers without confidence lose this knack and 2 we don't put enough balls into that area.

I believe our next strikers needs to be better than what we have to contribute to build up play and help us move the unit further up the pitch, not a striker who's worse at it.

I know a lot of people dont like him personally but Defoe is a great shout for rest of season. The man is a guarenteed goal scorer.

Not sure about Defoe, do we need someone to run the channels with two inside forwards? Don't really think he would fit our system.

Left winger - Atsu from Chelsea on loan, he's getting nothing at Everton.

Forward - Adnan Januzaj on loan, not a regular under Van Gaal and needs games in the league. Number 10 role behind Fletcher.

Get both of them on loan and you'll score more goals, undoubtedly. If Januzaj has a successful few months, I could definitely see him going again for a full season next year as well.

Leonardo Bittencourt from Hanover 96, he's ****ing brilliant.

Januzaj would be awesome, as would Bruma.

Striker? Ings looks a beast, I'd push them as they might buckle under a bid.

Ive watched Rhodes quite a bit and whilst hes an excellent goalscorer at that level I think everything he does is too slow and he'd bomb in the premier league.

Ings would be my choice. Hes a bit of everything and very sharp. Hed complement Fletcher and Wickham as hes different to both. I think the 3 of those would be a very good forward line to pick from.

Borini/Ings and defoe (£80,000 a week) but that's what you have to pay nowadays for class. Celtic want £8 m for their defender well I would go back in for Danny rose for that sort of money. I would love Sturridge, but then again he will want a packet, and don't think he will move.

What about Johan Cruyff, he could do us a turn?
