Hello. Apologies if this doesn't quite work as I've never done a poll before, but with voting closing for the player of the season later today, I'd thought I'd ask you all who you voted for, and, if you can be bothered to divulge further, why. I voted for Russell Martin. I was going to vote for Johnson or Bassong before Saturday's game, but after the defeat I changed my mind. Martin's performance on Saturday was one of outright commitment to the cause. He genuinely cares about whether we stay up or not and always gives one hundred percent. Whenever the chips are down, Russell Martin gives it absolutely everything. What's more, he is the only player to actually applaud my little corner section of the ground, whether we win, lose or draw. I personally believe the players should give a lap of appreciation after every match, as Martin does, but it's still good to feel respected by at least one player. Finally, I feel that Martin has come on a great amount since last season. If you cast your mind back a year, we were all of the firm belief that the man was simply not cut out to be a Premier League right back. Well, I think he's been outstanding this year. If only he was encouraged to get forward a bit more, like we know he can, he'd be even better. Anyway, that's who I voted for. Now it's over to you. HFM.
I went for Johnson. He tends to put a shift in most games, rarely goes 'missing' on the pitch. I like his passion and feel he has often stopped attacks against us while creating them for us. And before people say, yes I know his passing can leave a bit to be desired sometimes. If I was putting a team sheet together he would always be on it.
My vote goes to Snodgrass for his all around play attacking and defending, as well as joint top-scorer Second for me would be Bassong for his defending, scoring from set pieces and leadership at the back Third would be Martin for the reasons you give Hucks and his total play defending and attacking Johnson has also stood out as a ver good DM, but he doesn't offer enough going forward to make PoS
Mine went to Robert Snodgrass for being the one light shining amongst all the mediocrity around him. Special mentions also for Bradley Johnson, Bassong, Turner and Rusty. Everybody else has either been poor or inconsistent.
Snoddy got my vote. Second would have been Bassong, and third was Johnson. Apart from Anthea, Rusty and Ruddy while he was fit, the rest haven't shown anything for me.
