Perhaps inspired by uncle Carl's never ending outpouring of cliche's,before and after matches,I was just wondering if anyone else has a little gem of footballing wisdom they often come out with.Just to get the ball rolling (intentional pun) mine has to be "it's all about putting the ball in the back of the net" -usually accompanied by a groan from my teenage son.Come on then, can anyone do better than Carl or me?.
The one I hate is the TV commentator who says "he brought it under his spell". For some reason I cringe every time I hear it. Another is "saved by the crossbar". The crossbar is not a goalie. If you hit any post and the ball goes out it is a miss. Nobody saved it. I heard one today from Harry. "Worked their socks off out there". He must have been following Carl who has taught him all he knows.
Not yet but I might be in a couple of hours time thanks for asking...............hang on it isn't my birthday. Damn.
Not a year less between us then sensible...........I'd wish you a happy birthday but it might spoil your image........and we can't let that happen can we,....... got to keep standards as low as possible.
Well, it wasn't my birthday and I wasn't moaning later either. Still, a man can hope. Have to wait till April for the real one.
