I have to say that over the years, me and my fellow Pompeyite's that have travelled the length and breadth of our fair land, have frequented some fine establishments in the cause of good beer, company and a result if we're lucky!

If I had to choose one pub above all- and that's quite a hard task..... it would be The Nags Head in Reading. It's got the lot- including it's own bus to the Majeski, which makes life so easy when you realise it's only a five minute walk from Reading West train station!

What other favourites are out there that have yet to be discovered I wonder ?

Used to sell a nice pint of HSB - I'm going back about 30 years mind! Yes- a bit off track, but not if you've got a lift from some nice Pompey chums!

....all true, but you get a fantastic view of the Blue Army travelling over from the Isle of Wight.

The Scumdrums, what there IS of them, go Red Funnel from Cowes !!!

Blue "Army"? Bit of hyperbole there, I think Glastronaut. Maybe a platoon. I blame the defence cuts!

Maybe the Jockey in Barnsley. Big portions of pie and chips. The landlord there, introduced us to a concoction of Scrumpy, topped off with a small bottle of Cherry brandy, which you poured into your pint of apple rocket fuel.

For some strange reason, this made it taste like ordinary lemonade, (long before the days of alcopops). He told me "It'll blow your fooking 'at off" which it eventually did.

  12. The Antigallican pub in Charlton. Right opposite the train station, 2 mins walk from the ground - easy. And there are more burger / kebabs shops and chippies on Charlton Church Lane than you can shake a stick at.
