I said before the season started that I'd be monitoring the progress of your team. This was borne out of my prediction that you'd underperform for the money you've spent and end up languishing in mid table. I also said that I'd review that progress at certain milestones as a measure of the accuracy of my prediction. One of those milestones has been met, we are 12 games in, and you are placed in 9th. The numbers say you're nipping at the heels of the teams in the play off spots and even West Ham in the auto spots. However, lack of consistency has not allowed you to capitalise where others have dropped points. It seems you play every other game with a completely different team. Losing at home to the team that has pretty much dug their own grave so early in the season, as well as a team that's been aimlessly floating around in mid table, and throwing away a 2 goal lead away at your biggest rivals in a match you had complete control over. Completely mediocre performance from the team whose fans were lording it over everyone in preseason with predictions of walking the league. So far I've been 100% right. Showing promise but failing to deliver, 12 games in you're on course to provide me with a lot of entertainment.
Most of the performances you've "highlighted" were early in the season when the team was gelling. Since then, we have won four games, got some good points from tough grounds and are two points from second, with the only blip being ref-assisted defeat at Birmingham. So overall all a very promising start that bodes well. As for you're review, it's seems to be very negative and slanted, almost as if fueled by jealousy. Overall, I'm very disappointed with it's poor insight and analysis, but very impressed with your dedication, travelling to watch us home and away, which obviously you must done to form an opinion as "detailed" as yours. Overall, your review is a poor effort - let's hope future reviews improve as Leicester soar up the table.
You actually genuinely believe I'd be jealous of a team 1 point ahead of my own when my own has a game in hand and has been playing generally better? "Ref assisted" is a bit of an exageration. The penalty was a bit soft but the red was definitely a red. I've seen your own fans talking about how Sven is taking a very negative and **** approach to away matches and that will end up being your downfall. Soaring up the table? I sincerely doubt it.
I agree with you about the sending off, but remember the penalty was first and I doubt Mills would have done that at 0-0. Yes we do have our share of fans that are unhappy. They think because we have spend £10m, we should be running away with the league. This is naive thinking and I don't agree with it. Class will show in the end. And when we are promoted, you will realise that the the compulsion to keep coming back to the Leicester boards and make negative posts has been because you knew all along that we would be promoted, as much as you didn't want it to happen. That "compulsion" is motivated by denial, which is fueled by jealousy.
Oh my lord, what a complete numpty and as usual an uneducated moron from Leeds. How nice it is though for him to spend his precious time away from the job centre to come on to our board and type such carp. It is a disgrace that after 12 games and the season nearly over that we are 2 points from automatic promotion, we gave it a good go this season but I guess we came up short, oh well always next season..................................WAIT, the penny dropped, the season is NOT over, there is another 34 matches to go and 102 points to play for!!!!! hahahahaha come back at the end of the season you clown when IT REALLY mATTERS!
1/4 of the way through the season !!! Come back at the end, then 1 of us will have the right to WUM the other
Boring. These Leeds fans are getting desperate. Thanks for selling us Kasper on the cheap and if being 2 points off 2nd is underachieving then so be it
What a complete plank still what a compliment that he goes to so much effort to try and wind us up - yes both him and his article may be pathetic but despite what the precious little numpty says you have to understand a little bit as he is jealous
I actually did say I'd come back after 12 games and 23 games, and then at the end of the season. Just to keep track of my prediction. As it stands you've done nothing more the last few games than keep up with the rest of the chasing pack. There's no running away with anything.
But why.................What's the point........................No-one here takes you seriously, we just enjoy ridiculing you.............Why don't you try developing a little self respect and crawl away
Because it amuses me. I don't do anything on this board other than for my own amusement. You can ridicule me all you want and it doesn't make a blind bit of difference, in fact it's worth it to see you all go into delusional "we're still gunna walk the league" mode.
I notice how your review fails to mention the three home wins over the in form teams at the time. I think our start has been above average (as shown by our above average league position). It has not been awful by any means but nor has it been brilliant. But what does encourage me is that we're starting to find something resembling consistency and we've gelled as a side now and that was always going to be an issue when you bring in the volume of players we did. I think if you offered most of us 2 points from auto's after 12 games we would have taken it. We've also found a formation that suits us and the players are happy in it. Sven's also sorted the major problem from last season which was the defence (in no small part helped by Kasper by the way, thanks for him ) and any successful team will always have a good defence and we've got that now. I feel if we can kick on and play like we should on paper, we'll be alright. But you're right in that many think that Sven has been too negative away from home but last season our downfall was that we went and played open, attacking football away from home and we had an awful away record so I could see what he was trying to do but there have been times where we have been on top and failed to capitalize. Its all about finding the right balance away from home and its a fine art to do but I think we will get there. I'm not sure where you got the 'you play every other game with a completely different team' from either. I think it's two/three of our last five have been unchanged and one of the games, the changes were enforced through injury. But I don't think there's anything wrong with changing the side. The only time we did make wholesale changes was the 3rd game vs Bristol City and I don't think it helped us as we lost. Selection should never be a closed shop and you have to have competition for places to have a successful team. Man Utd rarely name the same side 2 games in a row. We have a big squad and there's nothing wrong with using to freshen up the side when it's needed. Some were worried that Sven might pick on reputation but he hasn't done that and if players are playing well, they keep their place and if they're not, someone else will come in and get their chance. That's how any side works and its no different for us. The key word in the Championship though is consistency. The times when we have dropped points has been when we've shot ourselves in the foot and that is quite frustrating but there's 23 teams (yourselves included) who are looking for consistency and everyone has/will drop silly points over the course of the season (you dropped points at home to Cov in midweek) so whoever can find consistency will succeed and its up to us to do that. We are both in that group of teams who are still improving and still have work to do to climb the league. We have shown signs that we can find some consistency (both home and away) but I think we still need to improve before we can count ourselves as genuine title contenders - at the moment we're showing enough signs to make me think we're capable of getting there, we just need to be more consistent to actually get there. But, as previous posters have said, its nice that you've taken time out of supporting your own side to come and study our start in such depth and write a review of how we've started and have made the commitment to do the same throughout the season and I look forward to reading further installments. I think the fact you've done this shows that, hidden in there somewhere (although hidden very well), is a compliment .
The "completely different team" comment was a bit ambiguous. I wasn't referring to number of changes, I was referring to lack of consistency in performances. It's AS IF you play with a different team each game. And it's less of a compliment, more of me being stubborn. We had a LOT of your fans on our board in preseason constantly making jabs at us for the sale of Schmeichel and acting like the big boys in the league. I am just here for my own amusement because you're showing signs of being no better than any of the other promotion contenders in the league. Certainly not the big fish in a little pond. I by no means thought you'd end up in a relegation battle (although it would bring me endless amusement) - I just think you'll be pushing for a playoff place come the end of the season. I don't think you'll be challenging for autos, but instead finishing in 5th or 6th, or just missing out.
casper is the best of our new signings and we thank you for letting him go so cheaply ok pleasantries over now f*-*-k off
Fair enough, that is your prediction and you're entitled to it. But most of the more sensible posters on this board (many of whom you won't have encountered on the Leeds board) knew that there might be an issue with our start and players taking time to bed in. There was a section of our support (a minority you must understand) that thought money would equate to instant success and expected us to steamroller the opposition 6-0 every match and were taking the opportunity in pre-season to gloat about it to every man and his dog. But now we've had this reality check, which might turn out to be a blessing in disguise, but if we improve like we have done so far then I think we have the capabilities to push for auto's. But certainly we won't walk the league and neither did most of us expect to because very rarely will anyone walk the Championship and you have to be a very good, settled side that have played with each other for a while to do it (i.e. Newcastle who kept most of their team from the Premier League and had that continuity). If anyone was going to do it, I'd expect it to be West Ham more than us because they've played together for longer and they've kept the majority of their Premier League side and supplemented it with players who should do well in the Championship. If anyone's underachieving its probably them. But the league is never won in October, only lost and as long as we remain in contention and then at the turn of the year, hopefully we can kick on (like Man Utd have done year upon year) as that is when you see the strong and weak teams in this very close league. At a similar stage of last season, you only have to see that three of the four play-off spots were occupied by Coventry, Watford and Derby to see how much the league can change over the course of the season and how much footbal is left to be played.
This. We are doing exactly as I expected at this point in the season (with an almost new team) and on-target for at least playoffs and potentially automatic promotion. Schmeichel and Bamber in particular were inspired signings - well done Sven.
Greatness, you are one of the few that talks 99% sense, 99% of the time on this board, and I think you ought to be commended for the way you deal with important issues and idiots alike
its looking like the foxes are falling apart at the seams the way recent results are going. once a few teams get away from you which they are doing then its going to be hard for you to get one of the auto's....is sven the man to take you up???? not looking good for him..
