We are building well but we still need, assuming Fielding signs....

    a) A number 2 gk....

    b) Quality creative midfielder....

    c) Proven class striker,John Stead style....

    d) A number 2 right back..

    e) Possible Albert replacement..

So far cracking effort, well done SOD..

We already got ryan taylor to score us 5 goals all season, plus baldock and davies.. think we're ok in the striking department

We need another striker. Say either Baldock or davies get injured or even both. We have no goal threat in the side.

Wouldn't say he was a goal threat. He might hit a few in but davies and Baldock, Should they stay would hit about 35-40 goals at this level between them.

Other than another keeper we're sorted.

However if Elliot, Cunningham, Baldock and Davies leave for the Championship (more than possible) then SOD will definitely need more players.

Wiz, the standard in L1 is soooo inferior to the Championship. I'm almost becoming confident.

    I said almost !

    yuuuuuup

    really...?
Charlton sheff and hudds soton and brighton held their own...Peterboro screwed up, I think the top 14 teams are at least equal to the bottom 14 championship teams, AND IT IS THE TOP 14 TEAMS WE NEED TO WORRY ABOUT

I reckon Davies, Baldock & Cunningham will stay, i'm sure they would of been snapped up by now if anyone was interested! plus i think i heard somewhere that they're wages wont count against FFP for next season... we have no reason to sell our best players.

Agree shin, i believe we'll make the Play Offs to be honest, league 1 a poor league, there is no getting away from that and if we can keep our squad together there's no reason why we couldn't do well.

Good to see you back again OR <ok>

On paper we should in the top 6 come the end of the season. I personally think we'll go up in the autos. Still a lot to be done but whats been done so far has been great. Look forward to the next 2 months to see who SOD brings in. Fielding and Adams will be the next 2 I reckon.

Yes i agree with you! and hopefully as Fielding is a great young keeper who i thought would attract interest from other Championship sides tbh so if he comes to us that would be a bit of a coup! don't know much about this Adams though...

We have to rely on O'Driscoll, Pemberton and Burt they seem to know what they are doing and who they want in and out come to that if there is interest in Cunningham I think we will sign that young Southampton lad also apparently we are interested in that left midfielder from Argyle which would mean Anderson moving across to rm or us bringing in yet another player. The more new players we bring in the less likely the old guard will play but also could also mean the longer the team will take to gelI rather think the first part of the season might be a bit sticky but as the players get to know each other better we could see a late surge remember when GJ took over a couple of wins then we struggled for 9 games but finally we went on a run that took us from the bottom of the table almost to the playoffs, going on how S O'D performed at Bournemouth and Doncaster I think we might have a fairly average first 10-15 games then as the players adapt to each other and to what the manager wants things will improve dramatically. The advantage he has here over the 2 clubs mentioned earlier is he has the chance right at the start to replace almost the entire team.

I feel that Bobby Reid could do very well as a creative midfielder
he has the ability, also done well in the few apps last season, looked confident and wanted the ball
    he should have his chance.
    and he is already here.......

It's players signed in the transfer window before relegation that do not count so That's Kelly and Moloney.

Hang on a minute everybody but aren't you saying that we need the same kind of players that we have been moaning about for years? The dominant midfielder has been on our wish list since the club was originally formed (lol).

I know we are trying to rebuild the squad but then so are most of the other teams in this division, so what makes you think we are in a position to achieve more that our opposition?

S O'D, Pemberton and Burt have a lot more knowledge about players than many a manager we have had at the Gate those are the people who can and will get the players we want eventually might be Jan for the final jigsaw pieces to fall into place but I hope not.
