right, so we all know we need a striker. So, apart from maynard and the yak. Whos left who could possibly be our man!?

All i can think of is:

    Rickie Lambert
    Le fondre
    Luke Moore
    Simon Cox
    Ismael Miller (not gone yet?)
    Jay Simpson
    Leon Best
    Noel Hunt
    Rob Hulse
    Brett Pitman
    Luciano Becchio (my choice)
    Marcus Tudgay
    Danny Haynes
    Victor Anichebe
    Jon Parkin
    George Boyd
    Sean Scannell
    Kanu(?!)
    Lee Hughes

    any other suggestions!?

Ebanks-blake. I wouldn't mind seeing if we could get Delfouneso on loan from Villa, but he was on the bench for them yesterday.

I also think a lot on your list wouldn't be an improvment on what we have. Jon Parkin, Sean Scannell, Kanu(?!), Lee Hughes, Brett Pitman, Jay Simpson, Le fondre. Not really sure George Boyd could lead the line either, more of a gally type second striker in my opinion.

Might as well list every striker in the premiership reserves and from the championship downwards as we are linked with them - the perils of having money and people knowing we are in the market for a striker.

I've still got my fingers crossed for Robbie Keane.

Becchio is injured plus Leeds would want really stupid money for him as he has signed a new deal so no point.

Also Kanu? Hell no - is a slower version of Howard.

Thought he retired anyway - must be about 50 now.

I think we need a winger as much as we need a striker at the moment. Otherwise Sven will persist with Danns or Vassell or even Nugent on the wing and I will get very angry.

BTW I hope Lee Hughes was a joke!

mmm winger yes maybe, lee hughes must be about 70 now so yeh im hoping that was a joke, and as for sven, i just think we have that many players that he is trying to accomodate, that sometimes he hasn't got a clue what the hell he is doing, maybe a smaller squad but played in the right positions would be the best place to start................

I´d go for Bacchio from that list. We need a player that will be good enough for the prem & to good for the npower... it´s that simple...I should be a manager :emoticon-0107-sweat

It was 1 game with so many new players. We need to be there or there abouts after 10 games. DON´T PANIC FFS

I think any forward would've struggled with our lack of creativity and supply yesterday.

Not convinced by the diamond. I hope we can revert to 4-3-3 like last season but...be a bit more difficult to score against.

You're right there, one good signing won't solve everything, then again I think a quality striker and winger was always important and I think they would be key signings. I think everything else can be solved from within, the rest of the squad isn't bad, Sven just needs to know what his best team is and get the best out of them.

1884: Spot on. Bad day at the office. We'll have another bad day sometime. We'll probably drop points to a team that's relegation fodder this year too. If we play as bad against Bristol in the week, there might be a slight cause for concern. But I really don't expect the team to run on all cylinders until 5 or 6 games have gone.

Also, the problem is getting a decent striker to the club. Look at every team in the championship, and arguably only West Ham have signed a striker that's good enough for the premier league in Carew.

Well with Bristol City 3-0 down yet again hopefully they are even more willing to sell maynard to us in order to fund for some better defenders, fingers crossed :)

If we don't beat them convincingly I will start to worry. They are in disarray.

I'd actually settle for 1-0 and 3 points right now

Well yes obviously, but a poor performance and a scrappy win wouldn't convince me.

no obviously not, but I think it's going to take a few more games for this team to gel.

If we don't start playing some of our more attacking players such as king and gallagher, or even lloyd dyer for that matter, i can't see us getting a convincing win at all, maybe not even a win with nugent isolated...
