The Forest game showed how important Joey is to our success I cant help wondering how we would have fared last season if he had stayed. I just cannot see us doing it if we fail to win tomorrow. Should we win we have a run of games that are all winnable leading up to the Burnley and Derby games and if we have found some good form ( aided by a couple of new signings ) our fate will be in our own hands. Lose tomorrow and I think we will start to slide away as nothing about the way we play fills me with enthusiasm. Thoughts

To think the entire season hangs on the result tomorrow is daft. The style of play is apparently the price we have to pay for going for promotion (no, I don't really understand this either).

A long way to go but a big improvement in attitude as well as form is required, we're going backwards at present...

As a QPR fan, it's extremely hard to think of a time when optimism, or indeed entertainment, was a defining characteristic of watching the Rangers: when was this golden era when optimism and unbridled happiness coursed through our veins?

To be honest, I'm a negative type of person when it comes to expectations surrounding QPR - that is, I usually think we're gonna lose, although this doesn't prevent me from sulking like a muthafukka when we do - but I'm trying desperately, though perhaps unsuccessfully, to avoid all this (what I consider ) nonsense over what we should be being provided with in terms of entertainment for the money and time we expend punishing ourselves by following QPR.

Basically, what I'm trying to say is that our successful seasons and exceptional players - yes, I mean Adel (amongst others)- are aberrations that crop up all too infrequently to bring brief respite to what can be considered a life sentence without hope of parole.

Those of us who were fortunate enough to see our great past sides from the late 60s onwards probably feel it a lot worse than the younger supporters who never had that privilege. Believe me, we're a million miles from those teams...

From or of the late 60s? No, I wasn't around to appreciate those sides but for those that were surely they've had enough time to acclimatise themselves to the situation we currently find ourselves in? After all, the vast majority of years we spent out of the PL following our first relegation were a complete sack of s**t, so it's not like contemporary circumstances are an anomaly. I think it's quite telling that Marsh, Bowles and Adel are mentioned in the same breath by some members: it indicates quite clearly that nothing much happened in the intervening period.

It's an interesting perspective Husky, I remember some great times in each decade up to the mid 90s. I also remember just as many dire times in between the good times, not just from Chris Wright's disaster onwards. Even in our best years of the 90s we were constantly slagging off the Thompsons who actually, with hindsight, were not that bad in the greater scheme of things.

We have a great owner now who, perhaps, wants success too quickly, time will tell...

Yeah, I personally have some great memories from 90s onwards - for some reason Bardsley's header vs Spurs (91?) in the 4-1 victory has been on my mind recently (at least I hope I recall that correctly). Also, the little run of away victories which accompanied Gerry's return to the Club - espcially a win against Ipswich when Stuart somethingorother was only a hot scoring streak and rounded the 'keeper from an under-hit backpass.

QPR has dominated my mood swings for 40 years. The Twatford game is not going be significant. Although, I have been informed that I have been a miserable, annoying, old git for the last week. I might well be in the dog-house if we lose tomorrow!
Being optimistic is probably not compatible to being a QPR supporter?

Being optimistic is incompatible with being a football supporter full-stop, with a few possible exceptions - Man Utd over the last 20 years, Barca etc. Really it's just an endless cycle of misery - probably why it's so popular in Britain: suits the temperament of the people!

Evening all. Have a look at the next half dozen fixtures and you may feel a bit more optimistic. There are home points for the taking with the odd away draw or loss.
