Waves of nausea overpowered me last night whilst watching Cluj Vs united. Just to hear the commentators and 'pundits' creaming themselves over the 'outstanding' display by united and in particular, 'The White Pele'. As most posters on here know, I'm pretty rational and fair, whilst still enjoying a bit of footie fun. I thought they played like Chelsea against Barca last night. Mind you, it was a great first strike by white van man Can't grumble about the second one though. How about that "robust tackle" by Ferdinand that resulted in an unlucky yellow. My arse. That was a straight red, studs up into the stomach of the opposing player. Oh, and the delightful frenchman Evra, robbed of a nailed-on penalty Diving twat. So gentlemen and ladies of all persuasions, what were your views on last night's spectacle? PS Keep any bile on the banter thread. I just want views on one specific match.
Not the first person I've heard wondering why the pundits were creaming themselves over Rooney last night.
Seriously did you think that Rooneys performance last night warranted the praise he got from the pundits? Edit. I'm not saying he played badly.
Not really no. I don't think he played particualry well. That being said I don't think that any of them did. I just don't understand why we played with NO wingers !! Plus if Anderson can play for United then I must be worthy of at least a place on the bench - the lad is ****ing ****.
Despite protesting to the referee instantly after the 'coming together', Rio didn't exactly argue with the yellow which would suggest he was expecting more. And Rio has a reputation for arguing with officials too Edit: personally, i think a red would have been harsh but that is coming from a person who has played the game rather than a person looking at the rules
If that's aimed at me, I did play the game. Observation told me that that was a straight red. His foot was right at stomach height and the studs were showing.
I wasn't aiming it at anyone, just giving my opinion. I think there are two ways of looking at challenges I think it is a nasty challenge, his studs were high and he did get the other player in the stomach but it was a bouncing ball that both players had to go for. I think red would have been harsh but nor would it have surprised me. As I said, I think Rio expected worse which is why he didn't argue.
I only saw the first half hour so I didn't notice too much, but where's the surprise? In my experience many commentators are extremely biased towards Utd in general and Rooney in particular. Tbh, the prejudices of the commentators are hardly the club's fault, but it does get annoying. At the weekend match whoever-it-was was clearly willing Utd to get back into the game. Oops, sorry. That last bit was off topic.
I didn't watch the match but followed it via text on the BBC website. By all accounts, both Chelsea (despite scoreline) and United made hard work of ostensibly easy away fixtures. From the commentary of fans and reporters it seems like only Rooney and RVP turned up last night. I also saw faint praise for Fletcher (nice to see him playing again!) too, but that was in the second half only, I think.
Yeah, never nice to see careers ruined by disease/illness/injury. He might get a call up for Scotland again with along Steven Fletcher, apparently. Good luck to the lad.
Fergies got the media brain washed. Rupert Ferdock. He probably makes the media compliment Rooney because if they say bad things Rooney will cry.
Did we ever land on the moon? I mean -- of course we did! -- but did we ever land on the moon? Consider the lily...Aaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!
