Listened to Stapleton on Sparksy this morning and he catagorcally denied any involvement or interest in the new set up. He said "I've had my time with Plymouth Argyle" and when pressed said he was backing James Brent's bid. Am I being cynical here but there was no mention of the other 2???
But did he categorically deny he had any involvement in some deal with Lombard? If Stapleton was part of anything that saw the demise of Argyle now then he might as well close his business and move out of town. I personally would not condone anything illegal happening in his direction but I would suggest that there are those out there who would not be so squeamish about taking direct action.
It would appear to have already started sensible: http://www.thisisplymouth.co.uk/Ex-...lice-threats/story-13461970-detail/story.html I do not recall the word "Lombard" being used during the interview.
Not hard to see it happening is it although I had not read that before posting. If this club goes down because of some double dealing money chasing by the old Board then there is no way they will be forgiven or be able to live around here. As I said I do not condone any of that sort of thing irrespective of the provocation but I can so clearly see something nasty happening.
I listened to most of Stapleton's interview this morning and its my opinion what he was saying was to stop him and his family from being attacked, I wouldnt trust a word that comes out of his mouth not even if he told me it was October ! When questioned as to whether Gill had made an offer to Lombard he replied " I don't know anything about it " .... why then has Stapleton and Gill been spotted at matches up at Home Park recently and Stapleton after one match walked into the Britannia ... probably testing the water !
Obviously Stapleton cannot answer questions for other people (Gill) it is for themselves to answer. He did state that he was "good friends" with the others, Ridsdale in particular. Like GAT I'm inclined to think there is more to it than Stapleton is letting on.
If there is more to it then his words were either deliberately misleading or a downright lie. This is the man who we all thought was an Argyle fan first and foremost who would not have done anything deliberately to harm the club. What seems to being said now is that he is not the man we thought he was and is just the same as all the other money men who protect themselves before anyone else. Would somebody like him take the club down to liquidation? I can't see it personally but we shall see in the course of the next week. As I've said if it happens then he might as well pack up and leave town because he will get no respite here along with anyone else who is part of it. There are plenty of the knuckle dragging variety out there who need far less as an excuse to kick somebody than this. I think some of the posts around are dangerous to say the least and uncalled for irrespective of the provocation. I could never condone it and to offer threat to a persons daughter is even lower. But it is going to happen.
Sensible the threat to his daughter on twitter was from a friend of hers it was a bad joke that backfired, the lad has spoken to his daughter and apologised to Stapleton and it isnt going any further !
Personally I think the Argyle fans are at the end of their tether, and when you hear what is being planned by the people responsible for our demise I dont condone their behaviour or threats but I can understand it ...... If there is no truth to what came out yesterday where are all the writs .... to my knowledge not one has been issued not even by Stapleton .... and that I believe tells the whole story !
The sooner Brent finalizes this deal the better..............then everyone can start to cool down..........and we can start to find away to stay in this division
I would appear now that Gill has dropped the action after pressure from the fans. Stapleton and Wrathall have both said they back Brent: http://www.thisisplymouth.co.uk/Fee...ministrators/story-13470985-detail/story.html I hope Brendan will be seriously considering a donation of his fee to staff or a charity to compensate for his role in Heaneygate - as his colleagues (who we assume took over when he had a "break") identified Brent straight off and have managed to get us into the position of the take over this month (they at least have earned their fee!). Two weeks after Heaney was exposed as the time-waster we knew he was. We should demand an investigation for this by an independant body. There must be an ombudsman who are able to look into any complaints about / the practice of these companies.
So storm in a tea cup then thank goodness. I can understand the ire of the fans Gat but I'd never condone actions that were illegal. We have been dragged to the pits of the earth and back more than once. Lied to, led on, built up, knocked down several times. Been told there is no other choices only to find there is. I absolutely agree and have said so before that there should be some form of redress against the Administration process and by that I mean the people who were supposed to be saving Argyle not emptying the cupboards and drawers of every last cent they could find. I think there has been massive incompetence will all of this on face value and it should be looked at and examined. Will it be? Hmmmm! I have grave doubts anything would be done to them no matter how much evidence there was. These people are worse in some ways than the Heaney variety. At least with him you see what you get. If this is how big business works I can see why it would never be for me. I worked in local government for 30 years and can put my hand on my heart and say I never lied or misled anyone in all of that time. Tell people how it is and don't dress it up was how I worked and got bollocked a few times for being too honest with people. I got a few hardtimes from the public also who didn't like the news they were getting but people always in the end said thanks for not bull ****ting. It seems to me there is not enough honesty anywhere anymore. What a sad summary of life in 2011.
The same for me Sensible. I have been told by my line manager loads of times not to tell senior managers the truth. I have always refused and when asked, told them as it is. I can't tell you how many times I have been bollocked for it. The way I see it, if I lie to them and I am found out then I will really be in the s***! I know my manager will not back me and I know he won't admit to telling me to lie. My position is one of trust. I am there to advise them on the best course of action in an emergency, like a fire or any type of maintenance issue and this trust would be destroyed.
