Completely knackered after the weekend and just back from the pub where I was bought drinks all night. Scouse mates of both colours have known the pain of the last few years and enjoyed yesterday for me. Up here football is king. Everyone is defined by the team they support. When we were scraping the barrel, I was talking to some kids down at Albert Dock. One of them asked me which team I supported. When I told them they looked at each other and one of them simply said, "Sorry, mate" (!) It is so unbelievable that we have turned it round. The team I have loved all my life are back and will again be competing at Anfield and the like. The banter can be on an equal footing. It is just amazing. Thanks Rickie et al.
Yes pride is the overwhelming emotion i'm feeling and i've got a smile wider than the Mersey tunnel all the time atm.... Can't wait to take on (and shock) the big boys once again, especially at fortress St Mary's.
It feels like the football world has sat up & taken notice, doesn't it. Although, the way some of the media talk about our seven year exile, well its frankly rude, its not like we dropped of the radar completely! So, we spent some time away from top flight footy, we had a little scrap with administration, we met the biggest Saint going, & we won a cup at Wembley! But now we're back. They might forget where we've been, but we won't.
