I'm not doing a match report as I wasn't at the game....but I just wanted to say how proud I am to be a QPR supporter today! Horrendous officiating left us with 10 men against Utd at Old Trafford, but they all played with great heart and avoided a hammering, which was vital, as our goal difference could be an extra point for us at the final reckoning! I'm not going to criticise any individuals. Yes some mistakes were made but that was a hugely brave performance and gives us some momentum going into the games against Swansea and WBA!! URRRSssss!!!!!!!!!!!!
Agreed...we can take a lot from that match.... But will come to nowt if we don't get three points against Swansea
Now this is a good thread. We needed to perform and in many ways we did. We looked pretty solid away to the team that will win the title this year. We reduced them to several long shots. They did not carve us open like i feared. Our back 4 looked pretty decent and Paddy was good again although IMHO he should have saved Scholes shot. We need to appeal the red card. Our system needs Derry. Barton and Zamora will also be fresh for the swans.Diakite and Taiwo got another Prem 90 mins under their belts. All in all despite another disaster from the officials this weekend has not been too bad. I would also like to see MH loose the plot at the officials. I would take the fine on the chin, but managers have to have the balls to really have a go at the officials when they fuc* up. Eventually somebody has to listen.Today was simply shocking.
was just wondering if the pitch was slower than the previous ones, the passing for most of our players was quite bad, almost every pass was too slow?
Well done the lads. Given that even a draw was unlikely, they did really well to hold the goal limit to two - and with 10 men for 75 mins at Old Trafford against a very fine Man U side!! Disappointed but not at all unhappy.
Agree 100% Col, my thoughts exactly. Very proud of the lads today, put in a real shift in adversity. Our gameplan was clearly to frustrate United, shame Lee Mason had the same gameplan against us.
OTT thread for me. They did exactly what they're paid to do and that's work hard for a mere 90 minutes. Lets not get carried away lads.
Spot on, if we can back this up by beating the Swans and getting a point at West Brom, we're on our way to survival
Swords, i have to disagree with you on this one mate. I am also not one for moral victories. I have had enough of those over the years with club and country, but today i was proud to be a QPR fan. We went down to 10 men early, away to the team that will soon be crowned champions. We could have fell to pieces and conceaded 4-5-6 goals today. But all the players (to a man) stood up and were counted. Todays result was never going to define our season. But we needed to perform well to keep some momentum going. I think we did that. Our players worked their socks off. Utd did not open us up too often. They were reduced to long shots or pinging the ball from wing to wing for most of the game because our players refused to buckle. I really can't see how you would not takethe positives out of this. Also in a perverse way, i think the injustice suffered by the team again today might just add additional effort to our performance on Wednesday.
Didn't see any of the game due to family duties, but followed text updates in the restaurant. Have to say in the circumstances, having saved BZ, Barton and inadvertently Derry for Wednesday, this is a score I would have taken before the game. Well done lads, shame the contest was destroyed by officials. What is clear is that something has to change with officiating. Regardless of our personal hurt, this season it seems to be in a state of collapse - the Wigan game yesterday just one example. It ruins the game as a contest, these guys just can't cope. In major rugby matches almost every try apart from the most obvious ones are reviewed before being awarded. In football this would take as much time as it does for the players to celebrate. Goals, penalties, sending off offences, disputed Clint type goals - would add no more than 5 minutes to most games and would save a lifetime of abuse and conspiracy theories. When you are talking about £70m as the reward for prem status we just can't go on with this amateur approach which goes from FIFA all the way down.
Manure 1 Officials 1 QPR 0. Really proud of the performance but we have been let down AGAIN by piss poor officials. We have GOT to appeal Derrys red card.
I totally agree: it works in other sports and would work in football. The game moves so fast it's very tough for the officials. Personally, I'd consider giving each manager the right to ask the officials to review two key or controversial decisions in each game: a maximum of four video reviews wouldn't slow the game down too much and it would stop so many of the injustices that we are seeing nowadays. Unfortunately, FIFA is staffed by Luddites who are locked in the 19th century and who want nothing to do with technology.
There's certainly positives to take out of it. We kept going and didn't lie down. But my point is that is the least I expect from my side. Honesty of effort is the starting point. Not the be all and end all. Well done boys now next game please.
Absolute dicks. Honestly, i felt like punching this pr**k beside me. Not a clue but still yabbing on about how good Utd are. This match and result aside, this is the worst Prem i can ever rem. This Utd team would not lace the boots of previous great Utd teams. Its shocking how average most matches in the Prem are.
Agree they performed very well but that's what should happen week in week out ... Hence we are in the **** A game of football was spoilt today but at last they performed to what is the minimum expectation
yet again the away teams get f**K all decisions going there way from old trafford! are the officials scared to make decisions, apart from that i thought we performed well today & thought twaio had outstanding game & kept the dangerous valencia at bay. so lets hope the geordis can beat bolton & utd take out wigan, not sure who blackburn have got but if we can overcome the swans & results go our way we can be two points clear of pack wednesday, back in zamora & barton & hopefully derry. i must say this has been one of the worst seasons of officiating i've seen.
