Been a good player for us.

Suspect he's off though, looking at the bottom of the article. Not suprising with Santon waiting in the background.

"There is also the offer of a five-year contract on the table for defender Danny Simpson but he is not understood to be happy with the terms on offer, and there has been no movement from either side of late."

Meh sod him. Santon is better. I have been knocked off course by Guthrie though. He has really stepped up to the plate and impressed me since coming in for Tiote. He deserves his contract and is showing us what we knew he was capable of :)

Shame 'cause I've always liked him and recently he's been in fantastic form. I'd love to keep him as back up like, but he could definitely do a pretty good job for a mid table team, and I just can't get over the thought of Santon Saylor Colo Pieters as a back 4 <laugh>

Meh. Stay or go, there's positives and negatives.

I think the key reaction is that he's not in any way irreplaceable. If he's not interested in a contract then sod him. In the nicest possible way of course...

Precisely. I'd like to keep him but if he does go, we've got Davide Santon waiting <laugh> And Pieters and Cissokho reportedly interested in joining us.. (Apparently Cissokho was said to have been gutted we didn't sign him in the summer?)

In a Chronicle article we were supposedly after a new LB with Pieters being top of the list, fairly recent too.

Plenty of lube? Little kiss first? <laugh>

But yeah, this. We already have an adequate replacement, probably better in fact and all we would need is a backup.

Amazing as Santon is, He needs time to adjust to Premier league! Will probly need a season like colo did and it would be nice to keep simmo till that happens at least. But if we got a really good LB I can see raylor and Santon competing for RB and simmo being pushed out which is a shame cause I think he's the type of player who would get better with age (to an extent).

I like Simmo, but he's too hot and cold too be this stubborn. I think he's taking our unbeaten start for granted personally.

He may just be trying to improve the terms of any offer a bit, which is fair enough.

Playing well at the moment, young, part of the tightest defence in the Prem - - be happy fopr him to sign but nothing to lose sleep about

These pictures clearly show that Baines is outside the new recruitment remit of the club by definition of being too ugly to play for Newcastle.

If he can find another club prepared to pay him more than we are, good luck to him.

find it strange that i'm agreeing with the clubs policy of not being held to ransom by players and as recent acquisitions prove a player isn't irreplaceable.
if he signs then fine if he goes we have santon and i trust our scouting staff to fill in the positions we need ..never thought i'd say that about the club esp.with the fat one in charge.yes i'd be gutted if we lost certain players but the feeling of it being the end of the world is no longer there as every 'big' player we've sold has been replaced by better and with carr i trust this will continue.
