Have you ever known a time like this, especially in a Transfer Window, where there is so little to talk about NUFC.

**** all to get excited about, nothing interesting, the Club are boring the Fans to Death, literally. :emoticon-0113-sleep

I must say, as frustrating as things are right now. I'd take boredom over complete despair at having the rug pulled out from under us - again!

Of course, there's still time for the despair to return...

Not so much on here, but in general.
There's **** all to talk about.

Been away all week, and had some good craic with a Pompey fan, but when it comes to talking about the Toon, what's to say, other than the same boring crap about Ashley, the New Manager or not, and bugger all on the transfer front.

    Pompey Fans are proper fans...<ok>

I like Pompey Fans. They rank up there with Baggies fans, Hull Fans, Saints fans and Stoke fans as thoroughly decent. Outside of the top flight you seem to get an equally high class of proper fan too I find. They ain't glory seekers they just support their side. simple as.

I think the club have angled for this for years under Ashley. Hugely low profile, out of the spotlight, and so on. I think it's to make us appear very low risk for potential investors, conducting business quietly behind closed doors, and so on. Where I feel it's let down is that Ashley does not feel any sense of responsibility to the clubs' fans, which is where it's wrong. I think it would show more guile and be better for the club to have a slick media team in place feeding information carefully, considered and - most importantly - regularly. We have no spokesperson, in seeking to employ a "coach", that emphasis on being a soundboard will be taken from the manager as well.

It's a real shame because if marketed properly as a stable, calm club, it would attract more interest. By simply operating in its' own little Ashley-designed box, under lock and key, and with a hugely apparent air of "10th is fine for us, thanks very much", we attract bad publicity. Comments from Linekar about the lack of ambition reach 3.5m people. The club itself has a Twitter following of 490k. Makes no difference, because Linekar says more about NUFC than NUFC does.

I personally don't agree with this strategy, from a commercial sense. I think in football there is an edge of excitement and glamour, and in actively trying to move as far away from those words as possible, Ashley has created a real negative brand-association. Will Sky/BT keep putting us on, or do we become Aston Villa, the dull ever-presents making up the numbers? Personally I'd like to see the broadcasters bin Newcastle United. I wonder whether the fact we're never on TV have an impact on what Ashley does with this particular investment? Unlikely scenario, but I think given what he's actually here for, I'd bet it's the one thing that might make the fat bastad either put up, or fck off.

Just to cheer you up a little, it appears that Shola may be back on his way to the North East.
    Luckily not us, but Hull.
They don't seem too keen for some weird inexplicable reason.

<laugh> You can guarantee the one goal he'd score would be against us. Probably off his backside without him even knowing it.

What do folk think about Defoe to Sunderland then? Personally I've always liked him as a player. Will always get goals. Not sure whether he's lost his edge having been in the US (I don't follow the MLS), but he should bring them something to get excited about.

    Aye <laugh> probably.

Some weird people on the Hull board, seem to think it will be a good deal.
They must be pissed or on something.
It seems they have a player called Sagbo, that makes Shola appear Messi like.

They cant lose as far as I can see.
Get rid of Dozy and his wages offset the cost of Defoe.
Unless he's totally lost it, I can see him scoring goals.
I would have had him here.

He used to be a player I admired. In his last season with Spurs, he scored once, and their fans didn't want him back. He's still better than Altidore though.

    We
We are starting to reflect our owners personality - introverted and secretive, don't talk to the press etc. Obsessed with money as that's now what we are best at. If the league was decided on profit we would be 2nd behind Swansea ( based on 2013.
