There are a few posters on here who questioned the signings of Long and - especially - Jelavic. Mr Twat Hat was one of them, even recently suggesting it was a waste of £6.5 million for this "Croatian donkey". Well I reckon they've just kept us up today, so I reckon that makes some of you absolute ****ing arse candles. Yeah?
Aluko is the one people need to apologize to. Last couple of games (Wembley in particular) he changed the game.
Aluko will get in any game we are chasing - his introduction is usually the polar opposite to how our team are set up beforehand
Yep, thought Aluko, Long and Jela were all brilliant. If Aluko had scored from that shot he had - instead of clipping the top of the cross bar - it would be an instant classic. Stockdale didn't even respond to it!
Take each player on their merits when we signed them and we overspent on both Jelavic and Long. £7.5m each, which is what they cost us if we stay up. If their goals keep us up then they're worth every penny, but it doesn't stop them costing above their value, and it was a gamble which if it didn't pay off would have left us right up **** creek.
You could say that about anyone, Norwich signed Van Wolfswinkel for something like 11 or 12 mill & Hooper for 5 mill, if it works great, if it doesn't....
Harper had an interesting match. His kicking was below par, but he made a great save when the match was in the balance. My MOTM Aluko Long Jelavic
I really don't understand how people can say Long and Jela are overpriced. £7m is going rate a Premier League striker. You can you easily pay that for Championship striker.
If they hadn't have been promoted, how much do you think Danny Ings would have gone for this summer? £5-6 million? I'll bet Long and Jelavic both outscore him next season.
Maybe I criticised the Long & Jelavic signings for the price of the pair. That was mainly due to the complete bollocks about us being skint (according to the Allams) and yet they spent daft money on these players. Fair play to the whole team for doing the business.
Without a doubt both Long and Jelavic were superb buys and have added greatly to the squad. You only have to look around the Premiership and you'll see moves that haven't worked out , our ex Altidore at Sunderland , that Greek geezer at todays opponents Fulham over 10 million for a player whose never been fit , Hooper and Wolfswinkel at Norwich , Bent at Fulham ,the list is endless all comparative prices and some greater than we paid out.
We paid top dollar for Jelly and Long, no doubt about it, but we're staying up so it's a punt that paid off.
