these players we have bought for 50 million are clearly not good enough for the premiership. I mean we have been beat by a team in the championship who have spent nothin. Ashley has the right to ask the questions who on earth is at fault here. McLaren is a clown. Penfold is a joke. And honestly I think we need rid of the scouts. They clearly do not know a good player when they see oneZ

Quite simply no. Do you not think Carr recommended Payet, Gomis and Ayew, among many others? We know he did. But the ****s in charge were too tight to sign them - wages too big, too pricey, no resale value. Carr undoubtedly comes to them with big lists, but we probably disregard the best recommendations in favour of those at the lower end of the scale, those who are young and relatively cheap, with real potential resale value. But the gamble is evident.

Problem is we didn't overhaul our squad enough - didn't bring in enough, didn't get rid of enough - and brought in a **** manager very low on confidence. Combined with a team already low on confidence (still featuring too many of last year's personnel), a bad start was always on the agenda. And where do we go from here? We needed a good manager to come in last January. The damage done by Carver's appointment was criminal.

The whole setup is the problem, leaving Carver in place was a real screw up and McClaren doesn't look like the answer either but it's Ashley and his business philosophy that is basic to the problems, it's a mess that really needs complete surgery.

I think you might be right but like you say where do we go now. No one will sign for us. No manager of any quality will touch us. The cheap brigade keep making mistake after mistake after mistake and we keep turning up like lambs to the slaughter. We can't keep going like this.

Do you honestly expect our players to bed in after 6 premiership games?
It took Colo over a year, Enrique about the same and countless others a reasonable period of time.
The last thing we shoud be doing right now
Is calling new players **** and wanting to sack the manager.
Say we did sack Mac. Who next? Do we give them 6 PL games too?

Our players that are playing the worst have now had more than 6 games mate. The new ones have come and done nothing. Nothing whatsoever. Look at Southampton tonight. Watford. How many players did they sign. They beat us. West Ham. How many. They are flying. We are so far away from playing any quality football it's a joke. We created one chance against a championship team who made 10 changes to their team from the weekend. We had 7 international Players on the pitch earning 40-70k a week. Don't be ****ing stupid.

But it took them a season in the Championship to bed in....are you suggesting that we need to go that route again?

The issue is we have allowed the squad to rot. If the squad is settled and performing you still need to bring in new players to freshen it up, our squad wasn't performing and we've stuck by the same players. We still have the 3 CB we used in the relegation season FFS!!

All goes back to Ashley and Charnley. Two of the most rotten kunts ever to disgrace english football. No matter how often their model fails, they keep trying. Carr isn't a DoF, and if his brief is U-25 with sell on value, a club like us will struggle. Payet and Austin would have beaten Weds on their own.

Maybe a drop down would be good for everyone.
Hell, I'd prefer to see us winning games rather than the dross we have to put up with.
It may even push Ashley towards Rangers.

Lack of investment over the last few years has crippled us, despite the 47 mill last ditch attempt to avoid the iceberg. McLaren is compounding the problem though, this is not the setup for him to succeed, so whomever is the halfwit responsible for signing him and doing nowt in the last billion windows is at fault.

The problem with this is that the players we have signed will all have relegation release clauses in their contracts after last season's debacle so if we go down, we'll have no on left to bed in except Toney.

If we get relegated then do they deserve to stay anyway?
    it works both ways.

Ashley is just locked in to his way of doing things as are the people below him, I am one of those who kept saying it will be ok, Ashley ain't all that bad but based on the current disaster you can see that they have not learnt their lessons, instead of spending the money on Austin who we know can score in this league and bringing back Cabaye along with say 2/3 proven prem players they stuck to the pattern that is so obviously flawed. Is it any wonder Pardew left, he obviously could see that they weren't going to change the blueprint and that the team would fail to continue to compete as other teams invested and the bottom of the league got tougher, I do think that McClaren is also not up to the task, the next match will show as Chelsea come to town and Jose has had a poor record against us the only problem being that the manager who has beaten him has gone so McClaren now has to do what Pardew did last season and win 5 or 6 matches from this point, anything less and we will be relegated as I don't think you can fix this in the January transfer window unless you effectively go out and buy a new team.

I think January will see the trouble makers/lazy bastards/deadwood go like:

    Cisse
    Tiote
    Gouff
    Willo
    Obertan
    Saylor
    Riviere

Now if we replace those with at least 5 better players and recruit a LB and CF we need we will have a better H2 to the season.

In January Mike has a decision to make. Allow certain relegation to happen or pay up some contracts which expire in the summer and take a gamble on staying up.

5 or more new faces will make a difference as I'm convinced the above, plus Sissoko are having a detrimental effect of team morale.

If an individual is down in the dumps (clinically) it takes time to get them back on track. Our club is no different. The club's psychology is shot to pieces and so we have to go about getting rid of the problem players pronto. If no one will take the likes of Willo or Saylor... we pay up their last 6 months, take the hit and move on.

I'm sure if you said to graham Carr, go and find us a band of young English players we can use as a nucleus to build a team round for the next 5 years he would do that. I'm sure if you told him to go and find three or four strong characters who will stand up to be counted physically and mentally he would do that. We must be telling him to search these foreign leagues looking for value. It's a club ethos not an individual
