Seems like SAF has closed the door on a return, on loan at least, to the SOL. Maybe he is just being the big bully again over Gibson, maybe he really fancies the lad for Man Utd next term. Who knows? One thing is for certain, we have to move quickly to get a striker in IMO before the Liverpool game. Despite what some have said in these boards, Wickham cannot lead the line yet and must be eased into the EPL this season. We need an experienced campaigner who can fill the berth alongside Gyan and there are not that many around. Peter Crouch, Jermaine Defoe, DJ Campbell and Hugo Rodallega will all be re-hashed names for the tabloids over the next few days but there may be one of the foreign players such as Pavel Pogrebnyak come back into the fore. Personally, I wouldn't go for Sturridge as we have already invested a huge amount in a young player and what we need, is a more proven striker not another youngster.
I guess Rodellega is a good shout, but i think he'd be overpriced in a summer when they are already bringing in the Zog money. Crouch is likely available, but he's not the right man for us, no way. The early reports on Dong are very promising indeed, i still have a hunch we may take Bendtner on loan.
Dong is coming to us fit as a fiddle cos he is coming here at the end of his season! Not the answer. x
To be fair I remember people saying skp wasn't the answer. We don't know yet as we haven't seen enough of him. A top left mid is a must for me.
Nelson Valdez apparently has a five million euro release clause in his contract. Saw him play last September while in Spain, put two passed the opposition keeper. That keeper was Victor Valdes of Barcelona.
Bit extreme getting yourself shot in the head mind, he could have just said 'Na, Da-Silva and Riveros got fuuuurked'. He's not payed since, as far as i'm aware.
Was a drug baron in a nightclub in Mexico City wasn't it... Escobar? Couldn't you have just written a letter to the club if you didn't rate him BB?
You trying to blow my cover mate, shhhhh... Wasn't drug related, just an argument with someone linked to drug cartels, ****ing awful really. He's class mate, i just think the club and the player would be reluctant to take the chance.
Watched Paraguay twice in the last week or so. Valdez looked a class above when compared to his teammates, always a threat, always calm and always putting fear in the defense. Don't see the club pursuing him tho after Paulo and Riveros. But, nobody saw Gyan coming last year either. Would be a fabulous signing.
On the subject of Paragyians. What about Santa Cruz. He's a big lad with premier league experience and is not wanted by city. A loan deal might be possible. A permanent deal might not be on the cards due to wages. I would personally like him, much better than anyone else I can think of at the moment.
Don't think Santa Cruz has looked good in quite some time. Certainly not for Paraguay. City would be happy to be rid, as they have no takers.
