Who do we go for? I would imagine we will have a caretaker for the last few games then appoint someone at the start of next season. I just don't see anyone available to take over right now for the long term. I would go for Big Sam for next season, but who could keep us safe for these last few games
Buggered if I know who should be caretaker. What if we killed two birds with one stone and went hard for someone like Moyes, Di Matteo or Rijkaard? I'd even look at Laudrup (who cares if he's a ****er, they all are to some degree). Apologies if any of these now have jobs.
Not much available with EPL experience but Phelan, ex ManU Asst Manager pre Moyes, currently at Hull as assistant to Bruce may fit the bill. Has played and coached at the highest level but a steady eddie coach who could stop the rot.
Despite all the 'he's gone' comments I think he'll be given until the end of season ........ seriously.
Dick Advocaat mentioned this morning on radio newcastle as his replacement. No from me. I would get Reidy back until the end of the season.
If as reports state Gus will be sacked, we need to find an Interim manager who will keep us in the League, cos if we don't stay up it will be hard to find a top class manager if were in the Championship, Short should offer the interim Manager a good bonus if he keeps us up, there is a lot of work to be done in the Summer, get rid of O''Shea, Brown, Gomez, Bridcut and the others who are not up to it and lets promote some of the under 21's into the first team squad.
Why does Roy Keane keep popping into my head with the remit of 'keep us up', earn yourself a bob or two.. Perhaps I need to get out more
As an interim measure, why not give JOS a real job, killing two birds with one stone, he runs the club anyway from where I am standing. You never know he might be a resounding success.
Doubtful that mate, I think him and Ellis Short clash. He'd probably sort out a few of the nuggets who **** about drinking and so on, but like I said yesterday, the squad you have is too thin to leave them out. I dunno whether there's any player solidarity for Gus Poyet, if there is then I can't see anybody pushing the panic button when there's no logical replacements out there who you could bank on.
Short should just go get his man at wotever the cost he has seen failure after failure. If it means paying another club compo then so be it money talks offer a manager enough money they will come im surprised short hasnt ****ed off by now he seems determined to make us a success but he needs to get the right man this time round
There isn't much breathing space left.An immediate change is essential. How can GP change his 'project',his failed style and selections to save SAFC. He has to go he doesn't deserve another game and the club cannot afford it. Bring in big Sam,Pullis,Moyes,as proven football brains,if they can /will come,or gamble--bloke from Bournmouth ?,or Nigel Clough?, Bradford manager? We are in desperate need and anybody who can organise a team to defend ,pressure attack, score will be an improvement on what we have now. Ellis needs to hurry up--it will take a new man a couple of training sessions, and perhaps a real match, and the international break to sus it out and there is no time to spare.--unless there is someone already connected to the club who knows the players available and has a different approach to Gus. Thoughts of Kevin Phillips have just come into my head although he doesn't exactly fit with what I have just written. Could be a premonition get some one in asap Ellis please.
Just had a premonition myself mate.....Paulo Di Canio.....lol.....would love to be a fly on the wall in the dressing room if that was announced....
I was wondering about that, especially as he`s taking a training session. Suggests he might be given a bit longer. Might be the Last Chance Saloon for him, although, honestly I don`t think he has anything left to offer.
He looked like a little boy lost on Saturday, trying to find his way out of somewhere he didn't know.
