very fond memorys of the early 70's. monday nights at the locarno, football on sat afternoon then horts, the crown, drawbridge etc in the evening, usually with a tear up on the centre to round the evening off. happy days.
Born '60 Two sons of 28 and 26 2 Grandchildren of 5 and 3 Started watching City in 1969 The early - mid 70's were very exciting as I watched a below average second division team develop into a promotion winning and very hard to beat side. Best personal memories are the Leeds away 1-0 win in the FA Cup in 1974 and two League Cup Semi Finals against Spurs in 1971 and Forest in 1989. Was nice to win the Freight Rover at Wembley but aside from us beating Carlisle in Cardiff, various finals against Mansfield, Brighton and Hull are best forgotten
Born 1954, 2 step-sons 28 & 26 Started watching City about 1966 when my mates Dad drove us down in his Austin A40 Farina! Was there constantly during the 60's and 70's including reserve and friendly fixtures as few people I knew went away unless it was a local derby. As with Angelic watched the team grow until that momentous year of 1976. Highlights? Arsenal at Highbury in 76, Liverpool at home and Coventry away in '77. Seeing goalkeeper Ray Cashley score against Hull, John Galley spearhead the attack and Alan Walsh doing his stuff! Wings - The Locarno on a Monday night, bloody hell mate, that takes me back! Had to catch the last bus back to Highridge at about 11 o'clock and was able to get drunk on 3 pints of Watneys Red Barrel!! Cheap night out or what?
Born 1980 remember the freight rover tropthy against bolton also have a early memory of being at ashton gate for a youth game that may of followed on from a first team game think my dad had a season ticket and at the time if you were under a certain age you got a free one! I remember terry cooper as manager and going to games when he was in charge!
