With just under 5 weeks to go before the start of the new season, I am interested to guage the feeling of us all on this board. 1) Are you happy with the signings to date? 2) Are you excited with the potential signings of Bellamy, Keogh and Kim Bo-Kyung? 3) If all of these come to fruition then where else do you feel we need to strengthen? 4) As it stands now, what do you realistically expect from next season and 5) Are you satisfired with the ambition being shown by VT, TG & Malky? I would answer: 1) Mutch (Yes) Lewis (Yes) Velikonja (so so) 2) Bellamy would bring th e experience needed and also the drive and passion. Keogh would without doubt strengthen us at the back. Kim Bo-Kyung is unproven at this level, although my gut feeling says that this will be a good signing - although one that will only last for a season as he'll either be poor and released or exceptional and targetted by a top 6 club. 3) We still need another striker with a proven goal scoring record - someone who is an aerial threat. 4) I belive that we'll be challenging for a play-off place. However with 3 or 4 prudent signings then we could improve the squad to be strong enough for a top 2 finish (I can't see those signings materialising though) 5) I believe that the Malaysians are showing the ambition required to back up their rebranding. However I am not convinced by Malky and his transfer targets. I think that we need to have a squad similar to West Ham (in strength) to go up automatically - especially with the relegated teams likely to be strong contenders throughout the season. Over to you...
Hiya Taffy. 1) Don't know yet but looking forward to finding out. I was a bit puzzled by the signing of Lewis. 2) I try desperately not to get excited until deals are done. Clearly Bellers would be a huge signing but so would Messi! 3) Think we need some pace out wide and another striker. 4) As it stands now and without further addition, I think somewhere around 8th to 10th place. I'm just a bit worried that players for these key areas may not be in place in time to have a pre-season settling period with us. I hope it works out for Malky as he is pretty much in the spotlight this season. 5) Satisfied with what they are saying and hope it comes to fruition. Very pleased that they are intent on putting the club on firm footings.
1) Are you happy with the signings to date? Mutch and Etien look a step up from our squad players. Not sure about Lewis, but you don't see much of a back up keeper barring injury. 2) Are you excited with the potential signings of Bellamy, Keogh and Kim Bo-Kyung? Less so Keogh but I wouldn't say no, especially if Gerrad and K9 move on. Bellamy would be more beneficial in this side than the last time we had him and I'd love him back. We've known we need wingers since MM arrived. Kim would give us more width though a bit of an unknown quantity and would give us presence in the far east. 3) If all of these come to fruition then where else do you feel we need to strengthen? If weget Ballmy and Kim, we'd still need a winger or two and a hold up striker / target man. 4) As it stands now, what do you realistically expect from next season - we're in a better position than at the start of last season and I'd hope for a top 6 finish, probably more so than last season. Add Kim and a winger or two and I'd expect a top 6 finish, possibly better. and 5) Are you satisfired with the ambition being shown by VT, TG & Malky? - ambition is a strange one and means many things to many people. Money doesn't necessarily equate to ambition. If we're talking about backing for MM yes, and hopefully in a low risk way. As for MM, I think he's an ambitions manager and has a view on how he wants to acheive things. He did a good job last year and irrespective of the backing he will strive to acheive his goals. He'll have a full pre-season with most (not all) of his squad which will stand him in good stead. He cuts his cloth appropriately and I don't believe he'd throw money at at things even if he had it.
1) not bad, not really heard of mutch or velinkonja before, lewis is a back up keeper so not a crucial signing..... 2) yes, we know little about kim and it will take him a few months to acclimatise, keogh, well we already have a good centre back pairing so not a priority signing and well if bellamy comes then i'll be happy but cant see it happening tbh......he's perfect for a club like liverpool as he fits into a rotation system and can play rodgers style... 3) wings 4) top 4. 5) yes
1. Uninspired. Think they will be bench warmers for a while. 2. Bellamy. Yes. Happy if Kim Bo-Kyung proves he does what it say's on the tin. 3. Wingers and big striker with Prem experience. 4. Currently top 10. 5. Malky yes. Too soon to say with the others. Sorry.
1. So So. A Back up Keeper a midfeilder in an area we are not short although a decent player and a striker that will have to prove his worth. 2. Bellamy will be a better team for him to play with this season i think if we get him. Happy if Kim Bo-Kyung plays as well as he talks. 3. Wingers and big striker as we have always known. We seem to be the only ones that can see that mind!! 4. Currently top 10. Not much more than i thought last season all in all at the moment we have a replacement for heaton and Kenny. Then a new midfeilder where we were already strong and you could argue a replacement for Lawrence!! bang in a top striker with a bit off height the 2 wingers we need plus 2 or 3 more decent players for strenth in depth and i would plump for a top 4 finish. 5. Malky yes but get those wingers and that striker son. As for the rest got to agree with ITIWRAN Too soon to say.
