So Fiorentina say they can't bid for chamakh because his wages are too big

Apparently we are paying this lad £50k a week (according to fiorentina president - story on sky sports news).

This sums up our problems. We pay terrible players huge wages so we cant flog them. And chamakh only signed recently. So we are still doing it. Our decline has nothing to do with money in my opinion. We just get it wrong everytime and end up with unwanted players who we cant sell due to their wages.

Well, he was on a free and at the time a lot of people thought he was a very good buy after his performances in the CL especially. And at the start of his Arsenal career, Chamakh did prove that he was a good player, but as soon as RVP returned his form dropped off a cliff.

    ^ This

When players are signed on a free, they generally get higher wages.

Yeh but 50k for a lad who cant even pass the ball. And his goal scoring record was never good. I just think he happened to score a few in the CL and we fell for it.

It was not just his goals though. Chamakh when playing for Bordeaux, was brilliant at linking the play and was really good with his back to goal. For a free, he was a good buy at the time. And like I said, we all saw his qualities when he first came to us. But as soon he got dropped to the bench, his form never recovered.

50k really aint much for a footballer tbh. Fiorentina are just being tight gits.

Every club has unwanted players on high wages that other clubs won't touch because of it. Arsenal are no different but you can't criticise them for that and I'm sure they'll get rid of him eventually. N'Gog was on the same wages at Liverpool wasn't he? Not to mention Cole, Aquilaini and Carroll, Man Utd had Owen, City have about 50, ditto Chelsea, we have Bassong, Bentley and Gallas on high wages and perhaps GDS, Jenas and Gomes, not sure of their wages.

Signing players isn't an exact science and there will always be players that don't make the grade but no matter how successful a team are they'll always have a Chamakh or two, happily collecting their mega bucks on the sidelines.

We have a chamakh or 10 collecting mega bucks on the sidelines. Man utd can sell such players but we never seem to be able to get it done.

Isn't this the same reason that he wasn't involved in the Giroud deal?

United seem to benefit from United old boys in management being only too happy to pick up the likes of Park, O'Shea and Brown which helps but we'll see how they manage to move on their biggest flop in years - Bebe. United, Chelsea and City can afford to keep players that haven't lived up to expectations, if a player of Berbatov's value had fallen out of favour at us or you guys, we would not be able to keep him on as backup until his contract ran out as well as buying expensive new players. That's why flops hurt our clubs more but that doesn't mean our managers have done badly, we just have tougher circumstances to work in.

Not sure how reliable it is but looking at this article on your wages shows some rather big problems if true.
