For me Spurs' title ambitions depend on taking one point off of each Manchester club. You don't need to beat either of them (although it would help), but defeat to either would leave you with a lot to do.

    <laugh>

I think if we are still there or thereabouts after our tough run of games in February then we can go all the way <ok>

Either way it is nice to have a good lead on 4th if it all goes tits up!

Of course we have to be taken seriously, now. I still think we need to strengthen the squad in Jan to be in with a real shout at the end. After more than 50 years of waiting, I hope that finally, this is it!

Having played with him of FIFA, I volunteer Moussa Sow as our new striker. He's exactly what we want, and FIFA is 110% reliable...except for the low stats it gives to BAE, Walker and Kaboul....

PS I'm taking Harry's reluctance to say we are title contenders to mean he is unsure as to how we will fair away at Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and City. These games will shape our season. We HAVE to take wins from some of these to win the league.

Yeah, course we are. The City game is the most crucial as we don't want to lose anymore ground to them but after that every game is important. We've got to here by beating only 2 of the top 7 so keeping our excellent record against the bottom half teams is just as crucial as anyother match.

If we beat Utd and City, and City don't beat Utd and we do as well as them in all the other games then we will win the title.

Our form so far against the other teams is better than theirs - so why not

For me, we are getting close to securing a top 4 position. Pretty soon, if we maintain or stretch our lead, 2 out of Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool will have to go on amazing runs to overtake us if we start to falter slightly. Get that position sown up and then, if it's still on, we can chase the title.

I honestly believe that we are title contenders now. As said previously we just need a really deadly striker. We've come this far without one (Ade's played very well but misses a lot).

With a proper goalscorer who can play on his own we will only get better. And we're pretty bloody good now.

Are we contenders? Of course we are, this article from the Guardian talks about it. The Gallas quote shows the value of having some older heads in the squad.

Spurs have chance of winning Premier League title, says Harry Redknapp
    • Manager feeling confident after win over Everton
    • 'It's going to be hard but we are not a bad side'

The Tottenham manager, Harry Redknapp, says his players firmly believe they can win the Premier League title after they moved to within three points of the leaders Manchester City with a 2-0 win over Everton on Wednesday.

The result, thanks to goals from Aaron Lennon and Benoît Assou-Ekotto, put Spurs joint second in the table – and if they beat Wolves on Saturday, Spurs will move joint top, despite having started the season with heavy defeats to the two Manchester clubs.

Redknapp says the run of one loss in the 18 games that followed those two hammerings has given his squad a sense of belief which he believes could lead to the club's first championship in 51 years.

"It's not impossible for us to win the league," Redknapp said. "We have a chance. The players believe we have a good chance. I wasn't there but someone said William Gallas came in the other day and said to everyone: 'Listen, we have a chance here'. It's not beyond the realms of possibility. We are in there.

"It's going to be hard but we are not a bad side. We have some real quality. We can play and we have a good spirit."

After the game against Wolves, Spurs face a crunch match against City, but Redknapp refused to look that far ahead. "We can't think about anything other than Wolves. That's all I will think about driving home. It's all about Wolves. We have to try to beat them. That will be a difficult game. They are a tough side to beat."

The Everton manager, David Moyes, was unhappy after seeing his team fail to test Brad Friedel once during the match.

"The story tonight is Tottenham and Harry," he told reporters. "You will probably only want two lines on Everton and David Moyes, but I understand that. Tottenham are doing well and so is their manager with the team they have.

"They are title contenders. They are a good team but that shouldn't take away from the fact that we did quite well tonight."

Already without Phil Jagielka for the next five weeks, Moyes watched in dismay as Sylvain Distin hobbled off in the second half with a hamstring injury, leaving Everton without an established defender.

Moyes summed up the state of his squad by saying: "It's OK. I am going to play in the next match."

You can see the belief is there in the squad. The team spirit is sky high and we have even got VDV running all over the place trying to win the ball back - I think the stats showed that he had covered the most ground in the first half?
