Now then.. So it wasn't Mancini, Ball, Di Matteo, Pulis, Reid or even Ellis having a shot at management, we got Gus Poyet.. Good 1st interview, talks the talk and I for one have that step of excitement or spring in the knees again. The big question is though does this appointment appease the ever changing views of Sunderland fans or weld them together? I remember being in the Concourse bar at half-time after Keane had took over, against Leicester if memory serves me well and some guy parades in lambasting Keane for his team selection and the fact we should be waltzing the match. The game went on to be a 1-1 I think and I remember walking away from the ground thinking, wow we have some right thick fcuking fans at home games. The week after we were at Ipswich and got beat 3-1 a match I was at and I tell you what, the atmos at that away game was spot-on and the southern supporters we have made that a great day.. So the moral is, how many whingy cnuts are going to be there at the SOL to shoot Gus down before the lad even gets started? Tell you what, even if we do go down then this lad is the way forward for our club, a breath of fresh air, a brain in football who likes his teams to play football and hopefully the beginning of something special.. Ha'waaaaaaay Gus, do us proud..
Well, I agree with you Joe. Enough chopping and changing already. In Gus we trust.......... Even if the only way is Down .... then Up !!
i was never blown away by the candidates but for me poyet was the best of the bunch. i think he is a progressive, modern forward thinking manager and think he could do really well for us. he needs time though and i dint know if he will get it. we havent had the best of luck with managers lately and ellis seems to have an itchy trigger finger when times get tough. he needs to win the squad over when really some of those lazy twats should be grafting thier bollocks off to impress him. if he can get a couple of wins soon im sure he will win over the doubters once we start picking up some points
I really think Di Canio would have got there, my type of no-nonsense gypsy warrior and very close to home. I will watch the Di Canio career with interest and will always wish him the best, not many of his kind around in this plastic, money oriented ****-hole of a country..
theres no doubt that pdc is a great coach. i think he had some excellent idea and i was a big fan of what he was trying to do behind the schenes. all that amounts to nowt though if he cant put it over to the players without being a twat. i was diappointed when he got the chop but if he had lost the first team things can only really go down hill from there. now the players have got what they wanted they need to start performing and getting us out of this mess
Whoever was anyone's favourite or desired appointment, we have Poyet now. What is more, we will have him for quiet some time imho, regardless of what happens this season. Staying up (hopefully) or going down, I hope we can build in some consistency now. So.......... We must get behind him. The fixture list is still a minefield for us. It's up to Sunderland fans to show some support now. x
Quite irrelevent now but being an ex fighter, if I was walking down an Easterside estate in Glasgow shouting Rangers, in Walker shouting ha'waaaaaaay the laaaaaaaads or conscripted into a front line conflict then there's no other man I'd like next to me but Di Canio.. He knows the word fight..
Nice one Joe. Even though he wasn't my first choice, i'm still happy with the appointment as you rightly pointed out, he likes to play football on the ground and it's been a long, long time since we did this. If he can get us playing passing football i'll be very happy.
I like the fact that Gustavo Poyet name when spelt anagrammatically spells out :TOP GUY TO SAVE! Sure there must be some hidden meaning in that !
I vote for more like Joe. I vote for less whinging ******s who bring people down. If people won't give Poyet a warm welcome and a decent chance then they're only thinking of their own sad agenda. I was gutted they sacked PDC but won't hold back with Poyet. The media, the public and possibly Poyet will be expecting a luke warm welcome at Swansea . . . we should take the ****ing roof off!
Nice to know you're on the manager's side, now lay off the players backs and maybe we will start getting somewhere!
I hope Gus is right on their backs and we might get ****ing somewhere mate, better than the 1 point showing OK.. FFS, the fans can say their bit too, it's not a vigilante here mate, there's now't he's said I disagree with over the last month or two so have a pop at me at your will but I'll pop back harder..
Good post kidda. I'm very happy with this appointment and think he will be a unifying figurehead to rally round. Very hard job ahead but I'm absolutely convinced we have a real opportunity to get out of this mess under him. He is an intelligent, charismatic and focused man but with an approachable manner of inclusion. He has a good football philosophy and in time we will play a better looking game but right now it's points that make prizes. I can't wait for his first home game. FTM
